'Absolutely battered and bruised but had the most amazing time paint balling with the fans today!!' (A/N real tweet! Ikr!)
'ahhhhh! Do you think he was talking about me? Or just being general?' Sarah asked Charlotte.
'Well considering his next tweet, I think that was more general, but the next tweet is definitely about you.' Charlotte replied.
'What does it say?'
'Come look.'
They both looked at Charlotte's phone screen.
Jay had replied to Nathan's first tweet, and had said '@NathanTheWanted yeah thats because you spent the whole day with 'an amazing and gorgeous girl' to quote you ;)'
Nathan had retweeted this and replied with '@JayTheWanted yep, she really was lovely. Want to text her, but can't be sure she doesn't have a boyfriend. You know who you are. Let me know :) xx'
'AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!' The girls both screamed. At 2:10am, when everyone else in the house was asleep. Luckily there were three doors, a long landing, and an extra room in between Sarah's and her parents' room, so hopefully they didn't hear too much.
They spent so long discussing his tweet they had basically analysed it and could write an essay on it. When they had calmed down, eventually, they went to sleep, dreaming sweet dreams, particularly Sarah. She dreamt of the whole day, replaying it over and over in her dreams. What happened. What didn't happen. What nearly happened. What could have happened. How lucky she was.
Sarah woke up at ten o'clock the next morning to find Charlotte still asleep. Typical. She spent her life sleeping, and even Charlotte herself had said it was 'a waste of half a day'. She considered her options. Number one, to let her sleep. Number two, to gently wake her up. Number three, use the pillow as a weapon and run for her life. She decided upon the first option. And if she wasn't awake in an hour she'd use the pillow. They had stayed up until nearly 4am, and Charlotte got tired quickly. And it gave Sarah some time to herself, to think, to remember.
Sarah remembered how he had known her name meant princess when they first met. She remembered how they had chatted and joked on the way into the meeting building, and how Nathan had playfully punched her on the arm before running inside like a cheeky child. Sarah remembered how she got a tingling sensation when they touched for the first time, and every time for that matter, when he had taken her hand at the beginning of the game. She remembered how he had protected her from being eliminated, and said he would rather spend the day with her than another fan, remembered how he ran his fingers over her plaited hair. Sarah remembered how they had chased the shadowy figure through he forest, and had ended up in stitches so many times. She remembered how they had walked, without talking, but it was not at all awkward. Sarah remembered how they had rolled down the bank together, their bodies pressed against eachother. She remembered how they had nearly kissed, Nathan's warm breath on her face, his face inches from hers. Sarah remembered how he had intertwined their fingers when holding her hand on the way back, walking through the forest, how they hugged, and how she felt comfortable and safe in his arms. She remembered how he had kissed her on the cheek, introduced himself to her mum. And she remembered how he had said he'd text her.
She replayed this over and over in her mind, reliving the memories, searing the day's events into her brain, not to be forgotten or neglected, but cherished.
An hour later Charlotte still wasn't up, so Sarah picked up her pillow and flung it at Charlotte, who jumped and screamed a bit. Sarah fled the room and you could hear the 'thud, thud' as she flew down the stairs two at a time. Instead of doing the usual 'I'll get you for that' yell and chasing after her, Charlotte decided to get her revenge silently and sweetly. By going back to sleep.
Sarah walked back up the stairs fifteen minutes later, having sorted the table for breakfast and said good morning to her family. She had also spent some time hiding from Charlotte, who had never materialised, and with curiosity went back to look for her. She sighed in exasperation when she saw her friend peacefully at sleep again, as though she hadn't been woken up just a few minutes earlier. Sarah noticed the pillow she had thrown at Charlotte was on the floor next to her.
Sarah raised her eyebrows and smiled slyly, as a plan began to formulate in her head. Let Charlotte sleep for a little longer. Just long enough to make her feel disorientated and wonder where she was.
Sarah busied herself with sorting out her plan and getting some homework out of the way before she... sorted Charlotte out. In the peace and quiet, without Charlotte wanting her to recount yesterdays events for what seemed like the hundredth time.
By 1 o'clock, Charlotte still wasn't up, which was ok as Sarah's mum had gone shopping, her dad had gone to get some DIY supplies and her brother was at a friends (It was Sunday. As in Sykes Sunday). Sarah decided to put her plan into action before her parents returned and they thought Chatlotte was being rude.
'Charlotte! You've missed breakfast!' Sarah yelled, close to her friends ear, to get her up. But Charlotte was far away in another land, probably dreaming of The Wanted. Sarah was surprised that mention of food hadn't got her up immediately, it usually did. She tried a different tactic.
'Charlotte! The Wanted are here! Get up you lazy girl or they'll see you with bed hair!' Sarah shouted again, and Charlotte shot up screaming like an idiot. Sarah could barely compress the smile that was forming on her lips and the giggle that was trapped in her throat.
'What? Why didn't you tell me?! What am I going to do I haven't had a shower or got dressed or anything!' Charlotte yell-whispered.
'They're not really here, I just needed to get you up seeing as its 6 o'clock and you've missed breakfast and lunch. I didn't want you to miss dinner too, and your mum wants you back in two hours.' Sarah replied, trying to calm a hyperventilating Charlotte.
'So Nathan isn't here then?' Charlotte said, disappointed, then a few seconds later when she had taken in what Sarah had said 'It's 6 o'clock and you haven't woken me up all day?! I never knew I could sleep so long. Fourteen hours! I was really tired. I'm so sorry, I've been so rude. Next time get me up ok? Wait. I've missed two meals? My poor, empty stomach.' As if on cue, Charlotte's stomach rumbled.
By this point Sarah was rolling around on the floor in hysterics, clutching her sides. Tears of laughter had escaped her scrunched up eyelids and the laughs were getting louder and louder. Charlotte just stood there, not sure how to react or what to say, or what was going on. It was only then that she decided to check an saw that it said 1:10pm. She jumped on top Sarah, tickling her, which made her laugh even more, until she begged for Charlotte to stop.
'That was not funny! Sorry for being asleep so long, I've told you before, wake me up! How long have you been awake for?'
'Since ten. You did miss breakfast though, but if you want something to eat, you know where it is, you would live here if we let you!'
'That is very true. Why don't you let me live here? I'll just go get something to eat then.' Charlotte ran down the stairs in search of something to eat. Sarah shook her head a laughed a little, going in search of her phone, which she hadn't checked since the night before. She needed to plan a text to Nathan regarding his tweet about whether or not she had a boyfriend when Charlotte returned. But when she looked at her phone, she didn't need to. Nathan had beaten her to it. She opened the text and read it, then ran to the top of the stairs and screamed for Charlotte.
'NATHAN TEXTED ME!!! GET YOUR LAZY BUM UP HERE NOW AND STOP STUFFING YOUR FACE!!!'
