Sarah hadn't heard from Nathan in four days, and today was the day he was flying out to LA, so she knew she'd get a phone call later on - he had left in the early hours of the morning in the Uk - which would have made it evening in LA - and it will have taken about twelve hours to fly there. That was something to look forward to. She hadn't texted or called, as she knew he would keep his word and contact her when he had the chance. He led a busy life. He had tweeted to say he was packing yesterday, so let him be. He had also lost his passport - again. Typical Nathan move there. Maybe he just didn't want to go... Sarah laughed to herself at this thought.
Sarah had occupied herself with her schoolwork, and catching up with all her friends whom she hadn't met up with over the summer; many holiday tales had been told and shared, and most were hilarious. It was great to find out everyone's best and favourite memories from their holidays, but she was a little sad and annoyed that she didn't really have anything to say. Well, it was more that what she wanted to say, she couldn't say. All her friends knew she had won the competition to meet The Wanted, as she had put it on facebook and twitter, and texted a few of her close friends, letting them know in her excitement. That was before she had met the boys, before her date with Nathan and Jay, and before her relationship had begun. So she told them about her cruise holiday with her family, and how relaxing it was - also about how her and her brother Jack had got themselves lost on the massive boat, and spent half an hour trying to find their way back, before they realised they had been walking in a circle. That made everyone laugh. She also told them about her day paint balling, but left out the part that she spent the whole day with Nathan. She didn't want to, but it was necessary until Nathan came back. She couldn't tell them about her date either, or her day on Wednesday, going to ballet with him, and ultimately that she was in fact dating one fifth of boy band The Wanted. Luckily, the only person from her ballet class who went to her school was Laura, who wasn't going to tell anyone.
Sarah didn't want to spend the whole of her weekend moping around her house and had finished all her homework, so called Charlotte and told her to meet her in the park in ten minutes. They hadn't had a chance to properly catch up since her date, and Sarah was dying to tell someone, she just had too. She'd already had to tell Laura, but that was fine. She needed someone to gossip with. Besides, Charlotte had been begging for details all week when they were out of earshot of other people, so this was the perfect chance as she hadn't actually been able to tell her yet. Which also meant it was all Charlotte had spoken and gone on about at every opportunity she could get, giving a constant, painful reminder of Sarah's month separation to come. She might as well get used to it though, that's what his job involved; it would numb the pain. Charlotte didn't know this though, so Sarah couldn't be annoyed, it also brought back all the amazing memories she had of her day... and the more unsavoury ones.
She arrived at the park to find Charlotte already there and waiting for her, twirling on the swings, her hair flying out behind her as she swung around in circles. The swing twizzled around so it was facing Sarah, and Charlotte caught sight of her, immediately grinding her heel into the wooden bark chips on the ground to stop the swing from turning anymore. Then she untangled herself and ran to greet Sarah.
'TELL ME! TELL ME! TELL ME! EVERYTHING!' Charlotte was hyperactive. Great, Sarah thought, this will be interesting. I wonder how long she can go without interrupting. No doubt I'll have to recount every little detail.
'Hi to you to.' Sarah replied.
Charlotte rolled her eyes, grabbed Sarah's arm and dragged her over so that was sitting on a swing. Charlotte then went to sit on the swing next to her. Apart from them, the park was deserted... Wasn't it? So they could easily talk... Couldn't they?
'Yeah hi, nice to see you and all that. Now please tell me about your date with Nathan. Ok? I've waited five days to find out. I can't wait any longer. Why do you think I turned up here to meet you?.' Charlotte demanded.
