When He Returned - Part 1You want to know what is hard? Getting the mental strength to contemplate whether I should've said yes or no. Looking into his eyes was somewhat of a trap. It drew me in sucking the emotion out of me and pouring it over him like a never ending waterfall. I don't know how he did it.. But he did it alright, every time. Just the sparkle in his eyes set off the fireworks in my chest, the butterflies in my stomach, the ramble in my brain, whatever other metaphor you want to use. I just couldn't contain myself. And he knew how to control that inner emotion in me and he'd mastered it to the point I myself wasn't sure if I had control over my own emotions and actions anymore. ------- The intense Californian afternoon sun penetrated my polished beige skin. The atmosphere in the car was musty and dry due to the hot summer heat beating down on the jet black 1988 Cadillac Eldorado. James, my dear companion sat beside me looking out through the tinted glass window of the car door watching the busy world pass by us. The nervousness in anticipation for the lunch gathering this afternoon was quite visible. I continued to fiddle with my fingers, picking at my nails as I gazed out of the mobile vehicle. There was a certain discomfort I felt about this. We were heading to the restaurant ‘Alizé’ to meet him. It was like a date almost, but there were a few others attending aside from him and I. It was five years ago since we last saw each other. We had a beautiful relationship. We fell in love, we were in love. It was perfect. Our knot was not tied as of yet but we were satisfied with our status. It was all happy, pleasant until he decided to follow his career and leave to Japan to support his business. He left me with only a word that he’d return when he did.✨
