When He Returned - Part 11

I walked in a speedy pace, almost running as I hurried past waiters and other customers. As I continued walking the place just seemed to grow bigger and bigger. The dining hall was larger than before and the lights brighter. As I glanced up the silk cloths that hung were longer and lower as if I could touch them by extending an arm. I stopped in my tracks glancing around frantically wondering what was happening. I needed to get out of here.
"Ma'am is there something I can help you with?" A gentleman in a coal tux holding a tray with wine that seemed to be boiling and fizzing stood beside me as he looked at me somewhat worried.
I didn't say anything. What was I supposed to say?
"Eva?" I turned around to see Michael standing at one of the pillars as he came towards me.
No. This was not what I wanted. I didn't want to talk to him. I didn't want to see his face. I didn't want to be around him. I turned back at the waiter who stood beside me and looked at him hoping to get some help from him but something caught my attention. The door behind him which had a white and red lighted board reading 'EMERGENCY EXIT'. Great. I took one last glance at Michael before I darted to the door pushing it open and shut it behind me watching it. There was no lock on it. So I just stood, stood and watched it wondering if anyone else would come through. A sudden chill of wind hit me as I shivered turning around in surprise. I was on the roof. The roof of the Restaurant. I glanced over the ledge watching the busy city bustle with chaos. The hot sun finally hit the contours of my face as I warmed in the heat of it's rays.
There was a soft click... and then footsteps. "Eva?" He whispered, behind me now.✨
