When He Returned - Part 8

It reminded me of when he would dab disinfectant on cuts I would get from cooking. He'd sit beside me holding my hand as he so gently and easily applied the Dettol onto the wound without causing excruciating pain. It was almost like his presence and comfort calmed me, it would distract me from the sting of the wound.
The eyeliner seemed to be clean off my face by now. My eyes were slightly reddened but other than that it looked fine. Running my fingers through my hair, I straightened up the dress pushing it down to its ironed form and took a deep breath exhaling strongly.
Everything was going to be fine, I assured myself. It'll be perfectly fine. "Eva... Don't you dare look into his eyes." I said lowly piercing my own eyes through the glass mirror. "Don't. Don't even think of it." I took my purse zipping it up as I sighed heavily glancing at myself once more in the mirror. This, this figure that I saw, in the mirror... It was the figure he loved ... Loved and betrayed.
Pulling the door in towards me I opened it stepping out of the powder room and headed back to the destined table. The area seemed more filled. People had come in for their lunch I believe, as they sat chatting at each other chirpily across their tables.
I was nearing my table, but I stopped, stopped mid-way.
I saw him. It was really him, Michael. He stood before me, his profile my view as I watched him smile slightly as he shook hands greeting with the others at the table. I could not believe it. He hadn't changed. Yet at the same time, he did. His hair was curly, just like before, except this time much longer. It reached his shoulders flowing almost past them as they were tied up with an elastic and pinned up for extra caution. A few loose curls floated before his face as they came in the way but stayed out of trouble. His facial structure was the same, except a little more defined. His cheekbones standing out as he smiled creating dimples in the shallow of his cheeks. His chin was square and masculine following his jawline that vanished behind the cascading curls.✨
