I took in a deep breath looking down at the table in front of me wondering what to say and how to say it. "You don't need to catch up with us .. There is no us." I felt so disheartened letting those words slip through my mouth. I didn't want to believe it myself but I seriously couldn't let him just come back into my life as if nothing happened.
There was a long pause between us. I didn't know what to say and he didn't either. We were both just taking it in for a minute.
"I still love you Eva .." He whispered loud enough for me to hear.
I closed my eyes at those words, they meant so so much to me and I longed to reply to him, to tell him I loved him too, much more than he loved me. But I couldn't, I couldn't say it.
"Eva.." His voice cracked slightly signalling that he was about to cry. I felt terrible. I couldn't see him cry not now .. Not ever.
"I love you too Michael .." I sighed turning away as I opened my eyes. I couldn't even look at him for fucks sake.
"Then forgive me .. Please, I want to start over. I love you."
"I can't." I shook my head looking back at him watching his eyes flood slowly. "I can't."
"Why can't you?" He cried out. "Are you going to hold this against me for the rest of our lives?"
"Michael," I gritted my teeth, anger building up inside me. "For five .. God damned years .. For FIVE years . You left me. You left me without even telling me, you did not call once, you didn't even bother to send a letter, a message, anything! You think that deserves forgiving? I found out through the news channel that you went to Japan for gods sake."
"Eva I had to go, it was an emergency. I know, I should have at least informed you but I couldn't, I was in a rush."
"Rush? That's your excuse?! Our child died for fucks sake Michael you left me you weren't with me through anything. I had to bear the fucking pain by myself! You do NOT understand!" I yelled standing up as the chair pushed back hitting the glass..................................
