When He Returned - Part 19

We continued eating in almost stilled silence with the only sound of our quiet crunching, but not for long. He decided to lighten things up and throw a fork at me aiming at my face exactly. If I wasn't paying attention I would have been hit right on the nose with the plastic utensil but we both knew I had great reflexes, and so I dodged the fork before it had a chance to hit me. "Are you mad?" I chuckled picking up another fork throwing it in his direction, hoping to get a serious whip at his forehead.
"No, but I'm still curious about that letter. Is it from Daniel?" He smirked dodging the fork.
"Daniel?"
"Daniel Lombardi. One of the most dashing, charming, handsome men of the business industry... Not to mention one of the richest too." He smirked.
"Oh, Daniel." I rolled my eyes. "Well James ... if you really wish to know, yes the letter involves him."
"Involves? So he didn't write it?"
I briefed a little pause before looking up at him and smiling slightly. "No he didn't."
"Then who wrote it? And why would it concern him?"
"You're questions are giving me worse headaches than all this paperwork. Would you give me a break?"
"Eva ..." He sat up watching me a little more seriously. "Eva what's going on? Why does this letter involve him?"
"Why're you acting like it's a murder case?" I laughed relaxing back into my seat, trying my best to blemish my lies.
"Knowing you, it could be one."
"Well it's not." I assured smiling. "It's nothing, just a simple business deal."
A deep sigh released from his mouth as he laid back against his chair still watching me intently. "Eva, I pray to the heavens this has nothing to do with you trying to corrupt Lombardi Corporation."✨
