She walked over and sat to the right of me, the two seats beside me now occupied with James and Elizabeth.
"So anyway... As I was saying," She continued chatting on about her life and how busy it was, how frequently she'd get calls and so on, pretty normal of her to do so. And of course, I was the silent one, just sat there and listened to her the whole time with the necessary reactions.
It didn't take too long for the following guests to arrive at the table. Jared and Monique arrived, hand in hand laughing proudly as they made their way to the table lavishly.
"Miss Moore! What a lovely surprise to see you here!" Jared grinned leaving Monique's hand as he walked over to me quite noticeably hastily.
I stood up to shake his hand, instead receiving an unexpected kiss on the back of my hand, soft and tender, but fake. I looked up at Monique who stood there glaring at him from the back of his head viciously.
"It's wonderful to see both of you here." I smiled emphasizing 'both' as I glanced up to look at her.
I tried to brush off this entire loving attitude from men. I had received it quite a bit from plenty of men who knew of my position and riches, which made me insanely sick of their attitudes and behaviors, mostly their lust for wealth and status.
"Shall we have a seat dear..?" Monique asked him sternly as she stood arms crossed behind him.
"Indeed we shall." He winked, not taking his eyes off of me.
We all took a seat at the table once more as it filled up gradually. A few more guests arrived, some of them I hadn't recognized so well.
"Mr. Jackson was scheduled to arrive this afternoon, was he not..?" Jared asked looking my way.
I didn't want to say anything. I was completely disappointed with Michael's behavior. He acted as if he was far more important compared to others and it was an attitude I did not appreciate.
"Oh, indeed he was. He should be here any moment now." James interrupted as he nodded softly.
"I see." Jared acknowledged. "Miss Moore. If you don't mind me asking, you did at one point sustain a love affair with Mr. Jackson, am I right?"
Everyone stopped.✨
