When He Returned - Part 5

They all looked up at me, right at me. I didn't have to look up to feel the eyes piercing into me, waiting for a response to the question that was just presented to me.. How dare he ask such a question.
"Well." I took a deep breath not knowing what to say about it. "It's a personal matter, I believe it should remain that way until further apprehension."
Everyone silently nodded, looking back down at their plates.
It had been quite a while now since I reached here. I just sat waiting for Michael to arrive. I didn't engage with any of the conversations being held about business and politics, gossip mostly. My mind was too clouded with thoughts to think straight.
"Don't you agree Miss Moore..?" A lady by the name of Sienna Ambrose asked, turning to me.
I looked up at her slightly startled. "I do beg your pardon. I wasn't paying attention to the conversation." I apologized, blushing at the lack of attention I consisted. "If you'll excuse me for a minute, I'll be right back." I exempted myself as I got out of my chair and headed off to the nearest bathroom in sight. I could see James watching me the whole time as I left.
I pushed open the door of the bathroom and stepped inside, locking the door after me. I started to perspire unnecessarily as I leaned my back against the door breathing heavily.
Why had this day have to come..? To think that I was actually willing to meet him after five years of just abandoning me. It was insane. I was going insane. Those five years were the worst years of my life. I hated every moment. Every second. I felt heart wrenchingly lonely and it was a devastating feeling. I had experienced symptoms of depression and anxiety, all because of him.✨
