When He Returned - Part 18 "Well?" James smirked sitting down opposite me taking a wrap himself unwrapping it hastily.
"It's fantastic! As always of course." I smiled taking another mouthful of the warm wrap.
"Did you manage to finish all your work?" He sat up slightly looking down at the papers and letters spread out on the table.
I quickly sat up and shuffled a few aside hiding a few letters that were confidential and .. Well I just didn't want him seeing them. I usually let James know about everything and anything .. I never really hid anything from him, there was no reason or need to do so, but this, this I had to hide. I didn't want him knowing about it or he'd try to stop me from doing it some way or the other.
"No!" I exclaimed waving my hand above the papers. "Of course not, look at all these damn papers."
He looked up at me eyeing me and picked up a letter from the pile I created trying to hide it. "Including all these damn letters .. I've never seen so many at once?"
I snatched the letter from his hand and shoved it in the drawer of the desk beside me. "Oh please James, I always get letters and you know they're my weakness." I glared sitting back down against the chair as if nothing even happened.
"Why are you trying to hide that letter?" He smiled. "Oh Eva, please don't tell me it's from an admirer, one that I possibly don't know about?"
I scoffed looking up at him. "Must you come to that conclusion? It is not an admirer and even if it was, you would know who it was."
"If it isn't some love letter then why are you hiding it from me sweetheart?"
"Because, sweetheart" I scowled, "it's a confidential letter that is business related and will be preferred not to be bothered or mentioned about any further, understand?"✨
