When He Returned - Part 3 “This way, mademoiselle.” The host signaled in through the foyer. It was a nice restaurant, Michael’s choice. I hadn't been here before, but it was a decent place, fairly elegant. I followed the host into the restaurant, James by my side. “It’s beautiful, don’t you think?” He smiled turning to me. “Yes, quite charming.” I replied, in my slightly brushed off British accent. I gazed at the high rise ceilings eloped with silk cloths hanging from the top. The chandeliers were plenty, like glowing crystals detruded from above. We were guided through the restaurant, finally to a table that was large enough to seat at least 12.
"He does know there's only going to be eight of us." I muttered to James walking gradually towards the table.
"I'm not too sure they're aware of that." He shrugged pulling a chair out for me to sit in.
I sat in, courteously, as I gazed around at the surroundings. It indeed was quite a grand setting.
"Are looking forward to seeing him..?" James asked watching me closely with somewhat of an intense stare as he seated himself down beside me.
"James," I sighed deeply in enervation. "I thought we already went over this..?"
"I'm just-"
"Eva! Darling!"
We were interrupted by a sudden jolly outburst, the familiar American accent from Elizabeth, a former business partner and dear friend of mine. She had the thickest Southern accent I had heard of, which indeed was easy to grow sick of. But over time I grew used to it.
I turned to her beaming brightly at her arrival. "Liz! How have you been? It's been a while since we last met." I beamed standing up from the chair to embrace her.
"Darling, honestly I've been tremendously busy, it's unbelievable!" She exasperated.
"Oh, Elizabeth. Trust me, it’s quite believable." I chuckled to myself. "But please, do have a seat. The rest are still yet to come."✨
