When He Returned - Part 10  He stood there for a while and I wasn't about to wait for him to sit down. Turning around, I walked to the other side of the table and seated myself in my chair beside James and Elizabeth. It took him a while to accustom to his surroundings once more as he pulled the chair out sitting himself down in the seat opposite me. Great, now I could see his delighted face all afternoon.
“Well, we all seem to be here now, let’s start ordering shall we?” James announced as he turned to me smiling slightly, aware of the atmosphere that faltered.
I acknowledged the smile, smiling back at him as I picked up the menu in my hands, noticing they were shaking slightly.
I flipped through the laminated pages eyeing the deliciously mouthwatering images of the various meals and deserts offered, but I couldn't choose an item, my appetite was demolished after emptying my stomach contains into the bathroom sink. But I was also distracted, and I knew by what. I peeked up above the menu opposite me as I saw the same deep ebony eyes beam back at me watching my every move. What on earth was he watching me for?
I glared at him catching him from his gaze as he flushed straightening himself up in his seat.
“Something I can help you with Mr. Jackson?” I asked lowly and sternly, keeping my glare.
He cleared his throat apologetically, “no, pardon me” and then looked back down at his menu.
This was ridiculous. Having to see his face sulking across from mine. I didn't know what I was feeling, what was I supposed to feel? Five years, five damned years! I sighed setting the menu down disruptively as I pushed the chair out standing up. "Please excuse me." I walked away from the table heading anywhere, anywhere away from him.
"Eva?" James called after me as I rushed away.✨
