The days pretty much rolled into one where work was concerned. I had heard nothing from Elena. Nor had I seen her. I would say that it didn't bother me but I would also be lying. If I knew my former best friend, Then it would not end well. You see, She likes to take her time with revenge.
It did feel strange not talking to Elena every day but I knew it was for the best. I didn't realise how toxic she was. Or how I had to be different to make her happy. I've not had to wear my contacts for 2 months and because of this, My eyesight is getting better. They are no longer itchy and red. But what's more importantly, My eyes are accepted by the man I love.
It still feels weird saying that I was in love with Loki. I never thought that a God of all people would go for a boring Asgardian like me. Our relationship was still a secret (Although, Saying that, we nearly did get caught by Lord Thor one morning. Thankfully, Loki is very good at disappearing when he has to). We have been talking about telling people about our relationship but we don't know how Lord Odin will take it. As Loki said, He and Loki don't always see eye to eye.
For once, I woke up before Loki so I got to cuddle up to him a little longer. I stared at his calming features as I rolled over and stretched. My arm fell gently down onto Loki's chest. I could hear the sound of rain hitting the glass. A faint light shining through the windows, it was going to be a rainy day and it had to happen on my first day off in over a month. And even then I was on stand by to be called in as there was a sickness bug going around Asgard.
"Good morning sleepy head" Loki's voice rumbled softly.
"Good morning" I smiled as Loki rolled over and met my gaze. Loki intertwine our fingers as we both slowly woke up.
"Yeah, there is definitely good in the morning" Loki kissed my temple "Especially if it's you I see when I open my eyes"
"Smooth"
"And I can't close my eyes because of your beauty. I will stay awake just to make sure that I have you by my side" Loki's sweet words made me smile.
"Are you reading that Midgardian man again? Shakespeare?" I asked with a grin.
"Of course" Loki answered with a toothy smile "Did you sleep well?"
"As well as can be expected, Given that a certain God keeps hogging the quilt"
"Sorry, Still getting used to sharing a bed with someone"
"It's fine. Don't forget, I have to learn to share too" I smiled as I rubbed my head.
"What's the weather supposed to be like today?" My God asked, seeing as the rain hadn't slowed.
"Overcast all day with scattered storms" I sighed as I leant my head on Loki's chest.
"Well that sounds joyful" Loki sighed sarcastically. He placed his cool fingers on my temple "Your head must be banging"
"A little" I rubbed my temple. I suffer from really bad headaches when there is a change in air pressure "It is not so bad today. I've had worse"
"Is that the day that you crashed at like half 6 at night and didn't wake up till 10 the next day"
"I believe it was" I smiled as Loki pulled me closer "What do you want to do this morning?"
"We could just stay in bed all day and do whatever" Loki yawned.
"Didn't you say you had meetings today?" He asked quietly. Loki smirked.
"I can reschedule those meetings. I'm not in the mood to get out of bed this morning" Loki winked. I chuckled and gently kissed Loki. I could feel Loki smiling through the embrace "What shall we do for breakfast?" He asked when he pulled away.
"Whatever you want" I chuckled. Loki rolled over and pulled me closer and he rested his head on mine. His long fingers were playing with mine.
"Well, I do know a lovely shop in town that makes the most delightful croissants" Loki purred.
"Do they have tea?" I asked. Loki pulled his head up and looked at me "What?"
"I thought I was the only one who like tea in this realm" Loki's jaw dropped. I chuckled softly "Could be you be any more suited for me?" Loki kissed me gently before I could answer "Though I still can't believe a few things" Loki ran his fingers down my arms.
"And that is?" I asked as Loki placed his pointer finger under my chin.
"How much I let my guard down around you and how vulnerable I am with you" I was a little taken back by his words.
"I make you vulnerable?" I stuttered.
"Yes. Did you not know that?" Loki's eyes soften. I shook my head "I wouldn't hesitate to jump in front of a blade for you or climb the highest peaks. I would swim in lava, Walk across glass. There is no army I will not face. I would even fight my father if it meant keeping you safe. I have been around for a thousand years and nothing frightened me. That was until I met you"
"Me?" I pointed to myself. Loki nodded softly.
"Now the only thing that scares me is losing you. Scares the life out of me" Loki spoke. I put both my hands on his face, Placing my forehead on his "For my entire life, There has always been a lingering fear that I am undeserving of love. Yet here you lay next to me and I can't help but believe that you are here to prove me wrong. One day, When we are ready, I will make it known that you are my mine and mine only. I only want to be your equal"
"I ain't going anywhere. I will be your side" I whispered "My heart is yours. As is my soul. I will love you forever"
"I will hold you to that" Loki chuckled as he pulled away "I love you more by the way. Now, why don't I go and get those croissants and tea?" Loki kissed my lips as he rushed out of bed.
"I would say I would come with you but it would out us" I sighed as I rolled onto my front.
"Also no point in both of us getting soaked" Loki sighed "And as for the subject about us, I was wondering if I could, You know, Tell my mother about us?" Loki bit his bottom lip.
"Really? You think she will approve?" I blurted out quickly.
"She already talks highly of you so I don't see why not" Loki knelt in front of me. Our foreheads touching.
"She does?" I blushed "Didn't think I made that big of an impression"
"You have that effect on people. You did me. Granted the first time I ever met you, You was passed out in my arms" Loki smiled.
"Yeah, Not my greatest moment" I coughed "I kind of was thinking the same but I didn't want your mother to know first"
"Then who?" Loki frowned.
"Sparkles" I mumbled. Loki leaned back a little.
"My brother? He is the biggest gossip in the realm" Loki rolled his eyes.
"Actually that would be Lord Frandral" I clicked my fingers and pointed "Who would and I'm sure of this, Would try and make out that us being together was his idea"
"I can't disagree there" Loki took my hand in his and kissed my knuckles. We heard a rumble in the distance.
"Either Thor is annoyed at something or a storm is coming" I looked out the window.
"I better go. I'll be back shortly. We can talk about us more"
"I'll be waiting" I sighed softly. Loki lingered for a moment before leaving. So while Loki was gone, I went and got some plates out. I opened the windows to let some air in. Even though rain gives me headaches, I love the smell of it.
*Knock*Knock*
"I wonder who that could be?" It wasn't Loki's knock. I put the plates down and went to the front door. I nearly stumbled back when I saw who was on my porch.
"Elena?" I frowned. She looked a little rough. Her hair wasn't perfect and her eyes looked tired. She also seems to be a little skinnier than before.
"Amelia. We need to talk" Elena walked straight into my house.
"Yeah, Sure walk in why don't you" I mumbled as I closed the door.We walked into the front room where Elena sat on the sofa. She was acting as if nothing had happened.
"Why are you here Elena?" I folded my arms.
"You ruined my life" Elena looked at her cracked nails.
"Only according to you" I looked at her blankly.
"But since you are my "best friend", I am willing to forgive you for all that you have done to me if, you get me a job at the palace" Elena smiled at me. I held my left hand up.
"Hold on. Firstly, I was your best friend till you flipped out on me. And that was over 2 months ago and secondly, No. I will not be getting you a job" I snapped.
"Why not?" Elena slowly rose off the sofa.
"You are lazy, Conceited and just an awful friend. You never pulled your weight. You always made other people do your work. You lie to get your own way and when it doesn't work out, You go crazy and act like a spoilt brat" I ranted. Elena just looked at me.
"You done talking?" Her expression turned dark "Now listen here, little girl. You are nothing" She grabbed a fist full of my hair pulling my head down to her waist "Give me a job or so help me, I will hurt you"
"I will never give you what you want" I hissed through clenched teeth "I am not afraid of you" I spat in her face. She raised her hand, slapping me to the ground.
"You are worthless" she smirked with disgust in her eyes "You are nothing" she slapped me again and again. She kicked me. Again and again. I thought she stopped. That was until her knee was in my face. I wanted her to stop "You know you want to give me what I want. Do so or I will ensure this punishment will be 10x worse" I didn't answer. I looked down to the floor. Completely ignoring her. Elena growled as she threw me to the ground. I landed on my arm weirdly. I think it may be broken. I tried to get up but Elena kicked me in the head. Forcing me back to the floorboards. She straddled me. Pinning my arms under her knees. Her long fingers wrapped around the throat. Squeezing my windpipe "I can stop this. Just give me a job"
"No..." I managed to get my good arm free. I started to scratch at Elena's skin, Leaving red lines. Elena squeezed tighter.
"Fine. Now the choice is either give me your job or you will die. I mean it's not like anyone will care if you die" Elena grinned. Her eyes were wide. If only she knew.
"I... will... never... give... you... what... you... want" I wheezed. This made Elena worse than ever.
"Then it looks like I will just have to kill you and that will leave your job open for me to take" She placed both around my neck. Cutting off my air supply. My hand felt hot as it fell to the floor.
"Where are you Loki?" I screamed in my head as the world faded into black.
