"How short would you like it?" The barber asked, pulling my hair out of it's pony tale and brushing it with a comb.
"Up to my shoulder's, not too short." I said, placing a hand where I would like it to be.
Since Summer was right around the corner, I couldn't stand having this long thick hair anymore. It was much too hot. I was already six months pregnant, and I was already burning up, I could not have this hair during Summer.
She nodded, "How far along are you?" She asked, gesturing towards my stomach.
"Twenty-Seven weeks. I'm having a boy." I grinned, picturing a smiling baby boy bouncing on my knee while I cooed.
"Any names in mind?"
"I like James Emmet, but the father like Emmet James." I explained.
"In my opinion, I like James Emmet."
"Thank you!" I giggled, mentally praising her for agreeing with me. She drenched my hair under the sink and began to massage a shampoo into my scalp that smelt of lavender. Being so far into the pregnancy all smells were heightened and my emotions were off the chart. There had been a few times were I planned a cute dinner for Caleb and I and he would tell me that he had to work late and I would just break down into tears. Caleb, of course was very understanding and make it up to me by bringing home food or he would stay up and watch movies with me.
After rinsing out the shampoo and rubbing in a familiar smelling conditioner she left it in for 3-5 minutes, rinsed it out as well then set me under the dryer. While I was waiting, I was flipping through a random magazine that I picked up, smiling when I landed on a page of a family portrait. It was a young couple, smiling down and a new born girl who was wrapped in a pink blanket, sleeping. I couldn't help but smile myself, wondering what my baby would look like.
"Your hair is damp enough to cut it." The barber, who's name I learned is Sophia said, lifting the cap off my head and combing out my hair. "Brunettes are look beautiful with short hair." She complimented trimming off my ends.
"Thank you," I whispered, smiling at her through the mirror. Once she got up to my mid back I began to feel a little anxious. What if I couldn't pull off short hair? I spent years growing out my hair to be this length and cutting it off was hard for me. Calming myself, I breathed in deeply, closing my eyes and let her do the work.
"Annddd were done." She said brushing over my hair once more. I peeled my eyes open, surprised when I saw myself. I didn't look bad, but my hair looked so much healthier. I couldn't see anymore spit ends and it looked so soft. It was about up to my collar bone, a little shorter then I wanted but I wasn't complaining. I ran my fingers through my hair and smiled.
"Thank you so much Sophia!" I said, struggling to get out of the chair to hug her. "It looks perfect. I don't have to worry about heat flashes anymore!" She grinned and handed me a card.
"If you ever need any help with your hair here's my card to call me." Sophia took me up front and I paid her, thanking her once more before leaving. When I stepped outside the shop I smiled, feeling the breeze tickle my neck. It felt great, now I just need to make sure Caleb likes how I look.

The front door unlocked, and my head quickly snapped over to hear Caleb grunting quietly as he pulled off his boots and walked down the hall. I swallowed, quickly fixing my hair and standing up to greet him. I settled on not mentioning it and letting him figure out for himself. I knew Caleb loved playing with my long hair but it's time for a change.
"Rose!" He called out, walking into the living room and eyes widening when he saw me.
"Hey..." I trailed off, fiddling with my fingers.
"You.. you cut your hair?" He said, eyes nearly bulging out of his head. I nodded, feeling my heart thump quickly in my chest. "You look as beautiful as always."
I let out a long breath that I seemed to be holding him, walking over to Caleb and wrapping my arms around him. I've missed him so much, lately he's been working a lot so whenever he comes home I'm either asleep or out doing shopping for the nursery. Speaking of the nursery, I pulled away and smiled at him. "I have something to show you."
"I don't think I can handle anymore surprises." He chuckled as I pulled him down the hall towards the nursery.
"Trust me, you'll like this one." I giggled, stopping in front of the baby's room. "Close your eyes."
He sighed, but closed his eyes and I smiled, opening the door to show him the finished nursery. "Okay open them." I muttered and he gasped.
"You did this?" He asked and I nodded proudly.
"Since I stay home alone all the time I decided to use my free time to finish his room." I said smiling at my master piece. I didn't have a lot of room to work with but it was complete finally and neither of us were complaining. (Image above is the nursery)
"Your brilliant, you know that." He turned to me and wrapped his arms around my waist. I chuckled, looking down to see my belly putting a huge gap between us.
"I try," I said, licking my lips. "You haven't given me a hello kiss yet."
Caleb smirked, his beautiful blue eyes darting down to my lips. "How could I forget?" He whispered, and then leaned down to press a kiss onto my lips. The kiss was more needy this time. Our kisses were usually soft and lovely, but this time there was more of a need. And I did need him. I wanted him. I deepened the kiss, opening my mouth to allow his tongue to slip in and explore my mouth. I let out a throaty moan, my hormones flying every where, creeping my fingers into his hair and tugging lightly causing him to moan as well.
It was as clear as water that we both wanted each other at the moment. "Are you sure you want to do this?" He asked breaking away from the kiss, but his lips never leaving my skin.
Yes! I wanted to shout at him, but I just nodded, pushing him out the door and into our room. He stopped for a moment, picking me up bridal style and carrying me into the room. He set me on the bed, climbing over me and kissing me once more, still need but more gentle.
And in that moment, having such a beautiful man that I was clinging onto, I felt real love. In that moment, we were infinite.
