Chapter 8: The Chase and The Reveal

Alex POV

I continued to chase after the black van, dodging cars and pedestrians. A few cursed me for almost hitting them. I managed to get close to the van and peer at the driver seat only to see Viperion. His out fit looked the same but with a different colour. Instead of a green and black jumpsuit, he's wearing a black and grey jumpsuit with matching mask.

"Luka?" I asked.

A girl next to him fire a pistol at me. I ducked out of the way, only to lose speed. I shook my head vigorously and continued the chase.

As we made our way to the highway, I heard the sirens behind me. I looked at the mirror and saw at least a dozen police cars following us. 

Buzzsaw climbed on top of the van and sawed the police cars in half. Only six of them were destroyed.. A few slowed down. I increased the speed of the cycle. 

I pulled out a throwing knife and threw it at him. Buzzsaw blocked it with his shield and glared at me.

"You were warned." He said bitterly.

"Va te faire foutre!" I replied as I threw another throwing knife at him. He dodged and threw his shield at me.  I made the motorcycle jump to dodge the shield. 

"Hmph. Not bad, Lupin. But don't think you'll save them." Buzzsaw said as he climbed back into the van. "Finish him." He said to the girl.

I  saw a girl wearing a fully black dragon suit with red boots and a sword  attached to her back. She had black hair and her face were covered by a red demon mask. She drew her sword and pointed it at me.

"火事だ！"She shouted as a dragon made out of flames raced towards me.

" Holy sh-!" I exclaimed as I tried to dodge but was too late. The dragon crashed into the motorcycle I was on. I was sent flying off the bridge. I tried to fire my grapple gun at the bridge but it was jammed due to my previous fight with Buzzsaw. I had no choice but to brace for impact as I crashed into the cold sea.

I quickly swam to the surface, clutching onto my broken ribs. I climbed out of the sea, removed my burnt mask and coughed up some water and blood. My trench coat was lost during the explosion, along with my gear. I saw a group of police cars coming in my direction. I pulled on my mask and walked towards them. Roger Raincomprix exited his car and walked towards me. 

"Alexander Jean-Pierre Peirce?" He asked.

"The hell are you on about?" I asked. 

"I know it's you under the mask." He said.

I sighed an pulled of my mask, revealing my bruised and battered face. 

"You happy now? You now know that I'm Le Loup. You gonna arrest me for vigilantism or what?" I asked gruffly.

We exchanged looks. I glanced and saw photographers taking pictures of my face. I even saw Alya and Nino giving me a sad look. All the students and teachers had a shocked look their faces.

"Mr Peirce!? You're The Vigilante!?" Mr Damocles shouted.

I remained silent and glanced at the ground.

"You are under arrest for vigilantism, assault, public endangerment, illegal use of weaponry, attempted murder, theft and thousands of euros of damage to public properties." Roger said. "You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say or do will be used against you in court."

"Wait, Dad! He's the one who helped defeat Ladybug and Chat Noir Hawkmoth. He's a hero!" Sabrina shouted.

"Yeah! He should be rewarded for his deeds! Not punished!" Lukas shouted.

"Drop all charges against him!" Alya added.

"I'm rooting for The Vigilante! Who's with me!?" Nino shouted.

"Let him be! Drop all charges! Set him free!"  The crowd shouted.

I stared as the crowd shouted out my name.

"VIVE LE LOUP! VIVE LE LOUP! VIVE LE LOUP!"  

"SHUT UP!" A voice shouted from a helicopter. 

I looked up and saw a woman in a yellow and black jumpsuit with black boots slide down the rope. She flicked her blonde hair out off her face. A few gunmen followed and pointed their guns at me.

"Queen Bee." I said bitterly.

"Queen Wasp actually. And as the Mayor's subordinate, I order you to arrest this man. He is everything wrong with Paris." She replied. 

"It is you who started this, Queen Wasp. You joined Hawkmoth, corrupted Paris and almost killed my friends! You are everything that is wrong with Paris. My friends and I are fixing it. By standing up to all kinds of injustice you baiseuses take part of!" I retorted. "AND THAT INCLUDES SHADOW SPADE!" I added.

Silence filled the air. Until the crowd cheered. Even Roger. Queen Wasp fired her pistol in the air, silencing the cheers. 

"You have nowhere to run. No toys to save you. Surrender or I'll have everyone gunned down live!" She said as the gunmen aimed their guns at the crowd. The crowd screamed.

"Are you crazy!? This isn't right!" I shouted.

"I don't care. Fire on 3." Queen Wasp said.

I stiffened.

"2." 

I looked at Alya and Nino. They shook their heads at me, pleading to me to not surrender.

"1"

"ALRIGHT!" I shouted.

Queen Wasp looked in my direction.

"I surrender. Just please. Let them go." I said with tears leaking from my eyes. 

"Good choice, Le Loup. I knew you wouldn't let innocents die because of your mistakes." Queen Bee smiled. "Cuff him." She said to Roger.

Roger nodded sadly.

"For all it's worth, Lex. I'm sorry." He said as he slapped the handcuffs on my wrists. 

"As am I, Lt." I replied as I was lead to his police car.

I stopped next to Queen Wasp and glanced at her.

"One last thing. Who's the Mayor? I know it's not your father." I asked.

"You'll see." She replied with an evil smirk.

And with that, I entered the police van and taken to the station.

Maman. Papa. Uncle Joseph. Marinette. Adrien. Everyone. Pardonne-moi.
