Chapter 23: Ryuko vs Lady Misfortune

Kagami POV

Joseph and I sat on the ground panting. We managed to defeat all the henchmen. 

"Is this what you do?" Joseph asked as he reloaded his SMG.

"Yes. It's tiring. But it's worth it." I said as wiped the blood of my sword with a piece of cloth.

"Heh. You kids sure got your hands full. Sacrificing your free time to save the innocent. Like my godson." He replied with a chuckle.

I got up to my feet and stretched. "The time for talk is over. Let's catch up with the others."

"Alright then." Joseph replied and followed me.

Half an hour of passed by and I stopped.

"What is it?" Joseph asked and pulled out his SMG.

"I have a feeling that we're not alone." I replied as a drew my sword.

Then, a ball of energy was fired at our direction. I quickly backflipped out of the way. Joseph dived backwards and rolled back onto his feet.

"So, you broke free from Shadow Spade's control? I can't say I'm surprised." A voice from above us said.

"Who the hell are you!?" Joseph shouted as he aimed his SMG at the figure.

The figure jumped from the roof and landed onto the ground. She was wearing a black and white top with a matching short skirt, black boots, a black scarf and matching fingerless gloves. Her mask and yoyo match her colour scheme. Her hair has darkened and her eyes were purple.

"Marinette?" I gasped.

"Ladybug?" Joseph asked.

"It's neither. I am Lady Misfortune." She replied as she pulled out her yoyo. "I'm looking for Alya. Where is she?" 

"You'll have to go through us if you want to find her." Joseph said as he fired the SMG at Lad Misfortune. She dodged them with neck break speed and kicked Joseph in the stomach. He fell back and landed onto the ground. He got up to his feet and pulled out the spiked batons. 

"I liked you better as Ladybug." He replied as he swung the batons at Lady Misfortune. She dodged them and easily disarmed him with her yoyo. She pulled Joseph close to her and kicked him in the face, sending him to the ground and knocking him out.

"Now. You're next, Ryuko." She turned to me and ran forward. I barely blocked her kick with my sword and swung it at her. She dodged and and kicked my sword out of my hands. We exchanged blows until she kicked me in the jaw, causing me to stumble backwards. As she snapped another kick at me, I summoned my sword and slashed her leg. She winced as she clutched her leg. It was a small cut to her triceps.

"Now you stepped in it." Misfortune said with a scowl. She lifted her yoyo in the air and shouted "Misfortune charm!" She summoned a sword similar to mine but the hilt had a black skull and the blade was jagged.

"ああ、くそ (Oh shit)." I gasped.

Lady Misfortune smiled and dashed towards me. We clashed our swords together, engaged in a deadly dance to the death. Our blades clanged against each other. 

"風 (Wind)!" I shouted and a large gust of wind sent Lady Misfortune into a building. I quickly picked up Joseph and ran. 

I'll come back for you, Marinette. I promise.
