Chapter 2 Frenemies

Just like any other person, Nesby has a best friend in school. Her name is Ivy Kathy. Ivy and Nesby were friends since primary school, and they have been friends for almost a decade. Back in the day, they do a lot of things together. Hanging out together, participating in a lot of activities and so on.

However, it wasn't until Nesby started going to different competitions without her. Nesby's schedule is also very packed between every competition, so chances of seeing her in school are infrequent. Some of the competitions are international, hence her whole class find it normal without her sometimes.

Once Nesby finished, she will go on stage to receive trophies or certificates from the school as a way of encouragement. Everyone is clapping for her, and it was all over the hall with its resounding volume.

From students to teachers, every one of them knew Nesby, which caused her to be popular in school. Despite that, her friend Ivy is the one person feeling very envious of Nesby's outcomes. She even starts gossiping about her, thinking if she has a dark scheme to get all of these outcomes.

One day, while Nesby was not in class, Ivy called the student in front of her. That student turned her head and warned Ivy not to disturb her in class. "Hey, stop interrupting me. I'm trying to pay attention. If there is anything, I'll find you during recess,"

"Fine," Ivy flipped her eyes in anger and continued class. Once class ended, that student came to find Ivy, who she disturbed during class. "Hey, didn't you say you wanted to talk with me just now? What is it about and be quick, my friends are waiting for me,"

"Lulu, well, you see..." Before Ivy can finish her sentence, the student interrupted her and said: "I am depressed just because Nesby Audrey is not with you. We get it, girl. Stop repeating the same thing over and over again. I'm sick of it,"

Ivy doesn't want to listen to whatever this person is saying and said: "I don't care how many times I wanna repeat. I can keep going on and on," Ivy slammed the table with both her hands before pointing a finger at her.

"Psychopath," She left the classroom with her friends.

"Hey, get back here! I'm not done with you," Ivy throws her temper in front of the whole class while some of them are fed up with her.

Suddenly, Nesby came into class, and all of them went forward to her, making a crowd. Ivy is still sitting in her seat with a pissed face on her. While everyone was talking to Nesby at the same time, Ivy slammed her table once again while everyone turned back to her.

Ivy slowly walks out of her seat and walked towards Nesby. She held her waist with both her hands, tilting a bit of her head to the side, saying: "I got a challenge for you, which is I am participating in the same competition with you, and we'll see who is the best, shall we?"

"Ivy, I have no time playing with you. I have to ask for homework before I prepare for the second half of the match. Please, if you want to play games, let's find another time, okay?"

"Fine!" Ivy shouted at Nesby. "Brace yourself, because I am going to shred you up into pieces," Ivy turned around after she finished her words.

"What's up with her today?" Nesby turned to one of her classmates, clueless about what happened to her best friend.

"I wasn't sure," One of them replied. "Ivy fought with Lulu just now, saying something about being depressed just because you are not with her or something,"

"Oh Lord, she is trying to seek for attention," Nesby slapped her forehead gently, saying with a fed-up tone. The reason why Ivy was super angry is because of all of the attention she got from people. She loves attention. She wants people to know her, from head to toe.

On one day, Ivy decided to follow in Nesby's footsteps by participating in competitions. Since most of the competitions were mostly volunteered, Ivy decided to take those competitions.

She will head to the curriculum department to get the forms for the competition while filling on the spot. Once she finished filling the form, Ivy walked out of the room, confidently feeling good about this. On the day, Ivy smirks while thinking that she is going to be popular in school.

However, reality hits when Ivy performed badly during the competition, and it is not the first time she has done this. This led her to receive criticism from people in school, and teachers even told her to work harder in the future, as it could pull down the school's reputation.

On the outside, Ivy looked like she was feeling a little pity, but once she turned her head around, she held on to her fist, grinning her teeth while walking back to her classroom.

Once she got to her classroom, she opened the door and quickly walked to Nesby. She beats her table, calling her: "Hey? Why can't I be this successful like you?"

Nesby demented the moment she heard Ivy's question: "What do you mean by that?"

"Well, I just lost a competition by following your footsteps!"

"What? You should not follow my footsteps in the first place,"

"What did you say just now?"

Nesby turned around to see that everyone was looking at them arguing. She quickly thinks of something to correct her words. Nesby cleared her throat and said: "Well, it was not that I am objecting to you. Joining competitions is a good thing, but are you doing this for fame?"

"Of course, I want the attention you get. I am jealous, envy for all of the attention you have gotten these years,"

"Ivy! What is wrong with you. I am not doing this for that. I-" A clear slap from Ivy got the whole class' attention. "What are you doing, Ivy?" Nesby interrogates her best friend while placing her hand on her cheek where the slap was given.
