Chapter 16 All Alone Again

Soon, Nesby got to the streets as she walks around with her loose, messy hair, messy clothes and dirty body. The trails of her tears were obviously on her face after a big cry at the outside of the basement.

At first, the walk was not having any issues since it was sunny when Nesby started walking for the next few minutes. However, the clouds turned darker and the whole city was dark.

Coming up with the dark clouds comes the rain. Because Nesby didn't bring along an umbrella or something to protect herself from the rain, she ended up getting herself soaking wet.

"Should I go back to the basement now that it is raining? But I don't feel like going back yet, what should I do?"

The reason why Nesby hesitated on going back was the fact she is still not ready to look at Kasumi after realizing all of the sentences she told were both ridiculous and also embarrassing for her.

Meanwhile, Kasumi realized that something was off as she noticed that Nesby is not home yet despite the bad weather. Her worry grows when Nesby hasn't even had lunch yet.

Kasumi wanted to go out and find her, but looking at the weather that was turning for the worse, she can't really do anything while standing outside of the basement. Unable to go out, she can only go back in and wait for the rain to lighten.

While waiting, she happen to see the pair of nunchucks that Nesby threw to her bed before she left the basement for a walk. Kasumi picked up the nunchucks as she also recalled the first time she gave Nesby those nunchucks to her.

The memories were still fresh in her head as Kasumi also recalled all of the times she gave lessons to Nesby. After the bittersweet recall, Kasumi then asked herself: "Was I a little too harsh just now?"

Before she was able to give a firm answer from herself, she sighed:" I just hope Nesby was able to find the right way home and continue this. She doesn't deserve to give up on this martial arts,"

However, she suddenly looked at the nunchucks as she remembered something out of nowhere. Kasumi then realized that Nesby wasn't able to fight back without her nunchucks now that she is holding them.

Without bothering the horrible weather, Kasumi took her blades and rushed to find Nesby. In the streets, Nesby was already catching a cold since she got herself in the rain for 15 minutes straight.

However, because she didn't have anything, she went to find food in the garbage bins and managed to make herself 20% full. To hide from the rain, Nesby went to a very dark corner and sat down.

Once again, Nesby was a lone wolf again and she was thrown to the starting point again. While sitting down, she thought of the warm environment she was in before leaving the basement, and this made Nesby want to clear things with Kasumi since she is the one to start the fire.

"I feel I should go back and explain things to prevent..." Nesby let out a sneeze before she was able to continue her statement. "...misunderstandings,"

This idea was quickly decided and Nesby stood up, ready to go back to the basement with her cold around her. But just when she left the dark corner, she happens to bump into her foe that year, Ivy.

Something different from Ivy was the friends that were standing beside her, making Ivy herself even stronger than before. Because of the strong advantage Ivy has, Nesby tried to avoid her at all costs, but she wasn't able to because just a few steps out, she bumped into Nesby while she has her hands covering her head.

"Hey, if it wasn't for Nesby that loser. What? You have been for so many months that you don't know how to talk? What a pity," Ivy started mocking directly in front of Nesby.

"I don't like all of this nonsense coming out from the mouth,"

"Oh really? You built up all of the confidence this whole time we didn't meet up, huh?"

"Of course. I can smack you into pieces right now," Nesby starts finding her nunchucks in her jacket, but she wasn't able to find it when there is nothing inside. Nesby was panicking, but she was also trying to stay calm because she doesn't want to lose.

Then, Ivy saw everything and broke her fake image while saying: "Don't find for it anymore, your sweat has expressed your nervousness. Speaking of that, would you want to fight back?"

"No, I do not want to spend my precious time with you," Nesby said as she turned around.

"You dare to reject my offer?" Ivy's princess disease is reappearing after getting her first rejection. "Girls, chase after her and beat her up,"

"Yes, madam,"

Soon, Ivy's friends chased Nesby as she starts to fasten her pace and ran to a place where they can't find her. However when she got to a dark pathway, Ivy blocked her way and Nesby wanted to turn back, only for Ivy's friends to block the only way out.

At this point, Nesby was trapped and two parties ran to her. To protect herself, Nesby ran to Ivy at an unexpected moment and kicked her legs. Despite that, she was pulled and beaten by Ivy's friends.

While getting beaten, Nesby attempts to find her nunchucks again in her jacket, but she already accepted the truth as there is nothing inside her jacket. Because of this, she can only fight back with her bare hands.

With her whole self receiving punches and kicks, Nesby tried to fight back to them, but with the advantage of the number of opponents, she was brutally beaten. One of them even punched Nesby's face, causing it to produce bruises and making her mouth bleed.

It wasn't until Kasumi ran over to save her which gave her hope. Kasumi took out her throwing knife and threw it at one of them. Not stopping there, she took out her switch blade and scare all of them: "Touch her one more and you'll get slashed like a real deal,"

"Oh yeah, come at me,"

Seeing as how one of them wasn't scared, Kasumi took her switch blade and purposely slashed her arm, causing it to bleed. Soon, all of them are scared as they beg her for forgiveness and ran away afterwards.

Ivy was shocked to see her friends running away on the spot while also abandoning her.

"Hey, where are you guys going? You are not supposed to leave me alone..."

A swish from Kasumi's blade went close to Ivy's neck as she warned her: "What do you guys have to do with her ?" Kasumi glanced at Nesby for a while before looking at Ivy with her fierce, orange eyes.

"Her unfortunate is our happiness, and we always vent out frustrations to her. In fact, she was not Nesby, but a bastard,"

"Oh really? She's called a bastard, huh?"

"Ah yes, don't call her Nesby anymore, it sounds old,"

"Really? But I only see one bastard, and she was just in front of me," Kasumi directly mention Ivy's rude behaviour in front of her by calling her a bastard.

"Ugh, you two nasty. Fine, I declare myself a bastard in this case, but I am still not satisfied, so I wanted to declare the two of you to a battle at Guardian Hall,"

"When is the date?"

"2 days after today. You guys are surely gonna lose,"

Ivy confidently turned around after her declaration while Kasumi withdrew her blade before she turned around to Nesby, who got badly bruised just now.

"You okay?"

"Yeah," Nesby answered. "It's just a few bruises here and there. Speaking of that, why did you still find me even though I threw a lot of hate to you this morning?"

This question made Kasumi shocked and speechless for a while before she was able to answer the question.
