« Alright, today, kids, we're going to do some crafting ! We're going to make a gift for mother's day !»
All the little kids were happy upon hearing the news, understanding they were going to spend the afternoon cutting paper, painting and drawing rather than having some boring history lessons.
Only one student turned quiet and became worried, not talking with her classmates about the news... she wasn't understanding something...
Of course, she was happy she could draw instead of doing some calculus or anything of the sort but... She hadn't understood what her teacher had said.
And this was bothering her more and more... but the more she was looking at her classmates smiling about the news, the more she felt ashamed because she did feel like she was the only who hadn't understood...
But this kept on itching her more and more and she got more and more curious... so much that she ended up raising her hand very slowly above her head, hoping she wouldn't have to stay like that for too long and hurting her arm.
The teacher ended up noticing this little hand above her head :
« Yes ? Do you have a question, Saki ?»
« Hum... miss ? Wha...»
She hesitated about asking the question, scared of looking like an idiot. But her teacher, miss Rin, would always say one should always ask their questions and there is no dumb question. So, she decided and...
« What's mother's day ?»
« Well this is a day where all the kids offer some gifts to their mothers to thank them and to tell them how much they are loved ! Kind of like when it's your birthday except it's for your mommy !»
« Huh...»
This didn't help her in the slightest... so, she dared ask another, shyly :
« And... what's a mommy ? »
« ... »
A short silence followed this innocent question.
Innocent question but carrying a heavy truth about this little girl.
But obviously, the other kids didn't have the maturity of an adult to understand what this question meant and so, they bursted out of laugh, mocking their classmate who felt ashamed of not knowing the answer to her question, which apparently was obvious.
« Is she serious ? »
« She doesn't know what a mommy is ?!»
« She's so stupid !»
« Everyone has a mommy !»
« How can she not know this ?! »
« Now ! Now ! Let's calm down !»
The teacher woke up from her trans upon hearing these mockeries and tried the best she could to calm the class down, clapping her hands.
« We've got a lot of work to do so let's begin right away ! Start writing some nice things about your mother or drawing something for her !»
The children quickly took out their paper and their pencils, started to draw whatever came to their mind, forgetting quickly about their classmate's mistake.
Meanwhile, the little girl was tearing up since she has just been made fun of, feeling ashamed of asking such a dumb question and still unable to know what to draw since she hasn't, in the end, understood the instructions yet.
