Pt. 30 Taiyo's Redemption

You wake next to Taiyo and Stain, the feeling having seemed to have flowed out of your body.

Hoshiko approaches you, wearily. Uncharacteristic of her, eye bags developed seemingly overnight.

Y/N: You okay babe?

She shakes her head.

Y/N: I scared you a little bit, I guess.

Hoshiko: Yeah.

Y/N: You tired, babe?

Hoshiko: Didn't sleep a wink.

Y/N: Nightmares?

She nods.

Y/N: Weren't there to hold you. Sorry about that, should have expected a nasty trick like that.

Hoshiko: You did everything you could to protect me, again. I hope that when the time comes I can do that for you.

Y/N: Think about it, final battle with whatever villain, and he's about to get me with the finishing blow. You glitch in and save me at the last second.

You dramatise the whole scenario like a father telling his son a superhero story. Hand movements, expressions and all.

Hoshiko: Or I freeze up and you turn to an unrecognisable sack of meat, and I regret not helping you and every day becomes a struggle. Hearing your cries for help every night.

Y/N: I don't think that'll happen. But hey, if it does, find another guy like me, okay. Be happy with that guy, I'll be looking on from above, smiling down because I know that my little Hoshi is safe and happy.

Hoshiko: Guys like you don't come easy.

Y/N: They are if you look hard enough around here. Kasai, Kaito, Daichi, Judan. I can keep going.

Hoshiko: They could never replace you.

Y/N: I'm glad you love me that much.

You look over to find two empty beds and an open window.

The streets of Hosu

Stain: I'm sure the residents won't be happy to see me.

Taiyo: Do they even remember you?

Stain: I wouldn't be surprised. After all I killed 17 pro heroes and injured 23 beyond recovery, so yeah.

Taiyo: A fine swordsman. I guess.

He unsettles, and stiffens up, leaving no conversation between the two.

They see a small figure run into an alleyway.

Taiyo: What the Hell?

They run after the figure, into the alleyway. They lose him only to find a hole in the wall at the end of the alleyway.

Stain inspects the spikes the hole has made, the scene akin to a tyrant's spikes.

Stain: No doubt about it, that's Overhaul.

They run in that direction.

Stain: The same alleyway I lost against Deku and Shoto. (Everyone knows these guys now. Stain, no exception.)

Another figure, taller, but not by much, approaches them.

???: After me?

Taiyo: None For All. I will take you down, to prove that I don't want to be remembered as the asshole from the sports festival, I want to be a symbol of determination and effort. To show the world what a quirkless man can do, I will defeat you.

Taiyo draws his sword, as does Stain.

NFA: I'm surprised to see you, Stain. You really couldn't do anything now.

Stain: My quirk was not even strong. I can fight without it.

Taiyo: As you should.

They both dash forward, swords ready to strike. As they strike down, None For All dodges the attack to the side. He punches Stain, collecting Taiyo on the way. They both hit a wall at high speeds.

Taiyo: Argh, fuck.

None For All approaches them slowly.

UA

Y/N: Iida. Taiyo and Stain have chased after None For All. They escaped through the window. They must've had a lead or something.

Iida: Damnit! I was going to send reinforcements for them. Where?

Y/N: No clue.

Hoshiko: I think we should check Hosu. I don't know, I have a gut feeling.

Y/N: You sure, Hoshi?

Hoshiko: I'm sure.

Iida: Why? If you know something, you have to tell us.

Hoshiko's hand shakes. Her eyes become cold and almost lifeless, you can almost feel her chest sink past her legs before her grip on you becomes tighter, then she loosens up and faints.

Y/N: Hoshiko? Hoshi? Babe?

You place your hand in front of her mouth. She's still breathing.

You walk away to put her back with Iida giving you both a piercing gaze.

Hosu city

Taiyo gets back up, pushing Stain off of him.

He dashed forward, sending a good thirty slashes his way. Only small cuts taken, if anything at all.

He grabs the sword with his hand, wincing at the pain of it cutting into his hand, however, he stops the blade, blood dripping from his hand.

He yanks the sword from his hand and delivers a knee to Taiyo's gut.

NFA: I didn't realise that a quirkless man would be so stupid as to challenge me.

Taiyo: I'm not stupid, I'm a symbol of what a quirkless person can be. I will survive this, and next year, show the world that even if you are quirkless, you can still be a hero.

NFA: Sure, sure.

Taiyo throws a punch, for only his hand to be grabbed, he delivers a gut punch to the villain, sending him reeling. None For All resets only to find a baton strike to the face, and another. Taiyo relents for a second, only to give None For All a false breath, before extending the baton into a full fledged bo staff.

None For All, with his bleeding face and hand, dashed past Taiyo, stomping Stain's gut, and cracking a few ribs.

Taiyo swiftly responds with a gut punch to the villain. He follows with a head punch, uppercut, kick under the chin, sending him back.

Taiyo: Grappler Slam!

He opens his hand towards None For All, and a claw arm comes out of his coat, clasping around None For All's neck. He slams the villain down into the ground, making his face look much like his predecessor.

NFA: If only you knew how truly hopeless your situation is.

Taiyo: What? I'd say your situation is hopeless.

NFA: Nowhere near the full power of my Boost was enough to take down Stain in a single blow. You're glad you were cushioned from the same attack.

Taiyo: Huh?

None For All suddenly appears, crouched, preparing an uppercut.

Taiyo's eyes are barely able to widen before the attack sends him to the top of the three storey building, before he lands back into the alleyway, looking worse than None For All. His broken, lopsided face, covered in blood, looks towards None For All with malice and crippling anguish inside.

NFA: Don't know why I feared you. I guess because I couldn't weaken you. Now tell me. How did you know I was going to be here?

Taiyo: I'd have Y/N's girl to thank for that. She told me you'd be here.

NFA: Who's she, who's Y/N!?

Taiyo: Don't know.

He says softly before falling out of consciousness.
