Pt. 40 Ruin

Undisclosed location-

NFA: The loss of Overhaul was quite tragic for all of us. I could never gain his knowledge, and it was a heavy blow to us all. While this may be too early, I would like to show you something I created to at least get us back to strength.

Another Nomu walks out, only known by the lack of speech, it wandered like a man on his last legs.

Midas: Kill me. This early? I can't believe it.

NFA: Now. I want to see this new creation of mine kill the man who has done Overhaul in.

Midas: This isn't the goal. You're going to chase petty revenge? What kind of plan is that?

NFA: Midas. Always speaking out of turn. We can't get our hands on the girl without him.

Midas: I get that, but why chase revenge? It serves us no purpose.

NFA: You'd think not, but without this kid, his daughter may turn back to us. With nowhere to go, we would be the only ones to accept her.

Midas: If you think she will turn to our side, you're insane.

NFA: Of course I am insane. You need a little bit of insanity to make your dreams come true!

Midas: What the Hell? This is bullshit.

NFA: Not like you'll leave.

Midas sighs and holds his head down in defeat.

NFA: Go forth, and kill Y/N Hado. Go on, Ruin.

Ruin: Nomu, 6'0", with a lean, muscular physique.
Quirks:
Quake. Allows Ruin to create destructive earthquakes by placing its hands on the ground.
Overhaul. Made with the cells of Kai Chisaki, it inherits the quirk. Lower intelligence makes this quirk weaker than its previous owner.
Ruin. Can cause the ground beneath it to become brittle.

The park-

You sit on a bench, Hoshiko resting her head on your stomach, with your hand there.

So soft. How could anyone want to hurt you?

Hoshiko: This is relaxing.

Y/N: Thought it would be.

Hoshiko: You thought right.

She sits up, and turns to kiss your cheek, you hold her head afterwards and pull her gently into your shoulder. You rock from side to side, before ending with a kiss on her cheek.

Y/N: You happy?

Hoshiko: Better than ever, thanks to you.

Y/N: I'm glad.

In the next second, you hear screaming and rushed footsteps, followed by a rumble in the earth.

Y/N: Shit. Hoshi. Let's do this.

You both run to the point from where you heard the noise.

You see the beast, a tanned, man-like organism, with a mouth that traced across its face, it wore a coat with no shirt, showing its considerable size.

Y/N: Shit. The fuck?

Ruin: Kill. Y/N Hado.

Y/N: Not one for a chat then?

Hoshiko: He wants to kill you. Of course-

Y/N: It's a joke Hoshi.

Hoshiko: Right.

The beast seems to ignore you, trashing the environment around it.

Y/N: Um, didn't you say you wanted to kill me?

The beast instantly turns to face you, in a mere second, almost cracking its neck to do so.

Y/N: Shit.

You curse as you start to fly.

The beast lays its hands upon the ground, suddenly, the road rises out of the ground in a sharp spike, almost impaling you in that instant. The spike cuts only your hand.

Y/N: Fuck.

Shit. I know that quirk.

Hoshiko charges in, punching Ruin in the gut, doing almost nothing.

Shit. Dashing Wave!

You slam the beast in the gut with your move, throwing it back a few metres.

Y/N: You good Hoshi?

Hoshiko: You bet.

You hear a cracking noise as you look down to see the road, looking scorched almost, cracking and bending under your combined weight.

Hoshiko glitches towards the wall of a building while you fly up, Ruin creates an earthquake, causing the road to collapse, revealing the plumbing and pipes beneath it.

Shit.

You fire wave blast after wave blast, only slightly knocking back the beast.

Hoshiko starts to glitch around rapidly hitting the Nomu every tenth of a second. She's a blur, nothing to see almost.

She finally tires, and is left panting, some distance away from the beast.

Ruin looks at her, then you.

It placed its hand on the road, you see what you think is to happen, Hoshiko getting impaled by a spike in the road.

You dash towards the beast, its abilities failing it as you slam your fist into its face, before turning and hitting it with a full Y/N Flood.

It focuses all attention on you, having been thrown into the sky by your ultimate attack.

Shit. I can't pull that one off again.

You assess your options as Ruin falls back to the ground.

You dash to Hoshiko, picking her up as you fly away. A spike from the road almost catches you as you fly above a two storey building.

Shit. We almost fucking died. Sorry Hoshi.

You say as you cradle her in your arms, landing on top of a building. You start to pant, feeling the effects of your quirk's fatigue.

Y/N: Shit. I can't stay... awake... shit.

You check Hoshiko's pulse before fading out.

You're gonna be okay. I can feel it.

Ruin walks past the buildings in the area, it stares at each intently before moving to the next, it sees no one. Neither yours or Hoshiko's resting bodies as it shambles along, knowing its failure.

Hour later-

You wake with Hoshiko. A throbbing pain in your head already taking hold in your foremost thoughts.

Y/N: Shit.

Hoshiko: You okay? Did we do it?

Y/N: I'd say not. We did however, survive. I think, I mean, if I'm going to Heaven then I guess you'd be there with me.

Hoshiko: Well, I'm not sure that we're dead. This feels real.

Y/N: Right.

You walk back to the dorms with Hoshiko in tow, more like holding your hand.
