Pt. 39 Fateful Single Spiral

Next day-

You sit in your dorm, rocking Hoshiko back and forth, she shakes, holding onto you. Intruder alarm making a deafening blare.

Hoshiko: He's back, he's back, he's back.

She repeats on a loop.

Y/N: It's going to be okay, I've got you.

She hides her face in your chest, drenching your hero costume, which you had with you at the time.

You hear slow footsteps, good thing I got rid of the sign on the front door.

You hear laughing from what sounds like a ten year old.

Midas: They really thought we wouldn't check, the pros are getting more complacent by the hour.

Overhaul: I remember it was this one.

Y/N: Shit.

You move Hoshiko to the side, standing up in a fighting stance.

The door spontaneously blasts itself to pieces. You charge a Dashing Wave into the duo, stopping just before striking one, the wave collects the both of them.

Midas falls off the rail, leaving only the young Overhaul to face you.

He dashes towards you, hand out, already going to turn you into a visual representation of a demon's bath.

You duck under the hand, delivering an uppercut to his jaw. You boost it by firing a wave blast as you finish the attack. He hits the roof of the dorm room as Hoshiko starts to scream and cry.

Y/N: You're going to make it out alive.

You say as you punch the villain in the side of the jaw.

Y/N: Time for my special technique.

You charge your energy into two fingertips, more than normal for a Single Spiral attack, focusing it into more of a beam than anything else.

Before you can finish the attack, Overhaul jumps onto your back, Hoshiko then comes in at the last second, before his fingertips brush you.

She kicks him in the side. You turn to see your red-faced saviour.

Hoshiko: I can't. I can't let you take him away from me!

She lands a punch, her first on her father. He is sent flying into your wardrobe before she starts to shake.

Y/N: Stay strong for me. Okay?

She shakes, knowing that she will be dead if he doesn't die today.

Y/N: I will protect you.

He gets up already rushing you, for every strike he throws, you dodge and land a counter. The process repeating four times before he slows.

Glad he's not tall anymore.

He throws another strike, you dodge it, flying backwards, blasting him.

Overhaul: Damn it.

He gets up, slowly, under the intense burning and throbbing pain in his arms, face and ribs.

You start to charge your new attack, concentrating as much energy as a normal wave, but all in one location.

Hoshiko sees her chance and grabs the villain by the arms, restraining his wrists.

Hoshiko: Get him!

You fire the concentrated wave into the direction of both Chisakis

Overhaul releases from her grip at the last second, leaving Hoshiko to be struck by the beam.
