"Such a normal school-like thing!!"
The class seemed to exhale synchronously at your teachers words, overjoyed that no surprise test was about to take place.
However, as Aizawas announcement began to sink in, the yelling came rushing back tenfold to what it was before, as people began to raise their hands and demand they be chosen for the task. No one made any promising arguments, all of them trying to gain the adults attention by causing a scene and promising various unsightly class adjustments.
You sat... a little confused.
You think you understood the concept, after all, with all the shows Yamada stockpiled into the computer you were bought, you had heard the term enough times now to know this was a common occurrence in high schools. Still, you were still at a loss at why the job was so great or why anyone was interested in signing up for the job. Saying nothing, you relaxed into your desk, listening to everyone else's endless conversations.
"I'd like to do it."
"I wanna be President! Lemme do it!!"
"Under my Administration, girls will have to show thirty centimeters of their thigh!"
"The position was obviously made for me."
"I wanna be a leader!!"
"Please, quiet down, everyone!"
Standing up from his seat in the back, Iida scrutinized his peers in front of him, hand still up in the air as if waiting to be picked on. "Leading the many is a task of heavy responsibility...! But ambition does not equate to ability!! This sacred office demands the trusts of its constituents...! If this is to be a true Democracy, then I put forward the motion that our leader be chosen by election!!"
Staring back, the class took in his words before up-roaring bluntly once more.
"This is a classroom!! Not Congress!!"
Asui turned towards the taller male behind her, eyebrows raised in confusion as she voiced her skepticism. "But Iida, we haven't known each other long enough to build any kind of trust."
Kirishima, who sat to the girls left, nodded. "Yeah! Plus, everyone'll just vote for themselves!"
"That's precisely why anyone who manages to earn multiple votes will be the best-suited individual for the job!! They will be the one fit enough to lead our class!"
Pushing up his glasses, Iida turned toward Aizawa, "Will you allow this, Sensei?!"
Aizawa, who had spent this whole time wiggling into his yellow sleeping bag, shrugged at the teens question. "I don't care how you do it, just make it quick."
At his go ahead, Iida makes quick work of handing out little slips of paper, asking everyone to write down the name of someone they believe fit for the position. As soon as one was done, he then asked for everyone to leave the slips at the podium up front, promising to publicly count and tally up the marks in order to guarantee no foul play, all while keeping the voters anonymous.
Shrugging, the class went ahead and followed his instructions, all receiving a slip of paper as they waited at their desks. Some went fast in their decision making and others took their time. You assumed those who finished first had chosen for themselves, while the rest tried to make a fair enough decision for the task at hand.
Looking towards your own piece of paper, you blanked on what to do. Like everyone had stated, you didn't really know anyone in the class that fit the quota of 'President'. 'What does the Class President do anyways that's so important...?'
