I thank one of my neighbors for holding the door open for me while I carry the heavy bags with groceries. Laura, my neighbor, lives on the fifth floor of our apartment building with her husband and their two adorable sons. Sometimes, Dylan and I babysit the boys when she and her husband go out to spend some time with each other.

Jack and Milo are some of the most adorable boys I've ever met. They're so sweet and caring it sometimes makes my heart burst, and I can't wait to have children of my own walking around me. It has always been one of my biggest dreams, and I can't wait for it to come true. Ever since I was a little girl, I always knew I wanted children. I used to pretend to be the mother of my dolls and care for them like they were my own.

"Laura, a long time no see. How are you doing? How are the boys?" I ask her, smiling genuinely at her. She gives me a bright smile and closes the door behind me. Her hair hangs loosely around her shoulders, and her brown eyes look at me as she answers.

"I'm doing fine, darling. How are you doing? I just had a pretty stressful week, but gladly, next week will be a little bit less busy. The boys are doing perfect, and they continuously ask when you and Dylan are babysitting again. I hope you don't mind if I ask you for an evening next week? Max told me he was trying to get tickets for a concert I've been dying to see." She tells me.

"I'm glad to hear that. I'm doing perfect, and my work has been interesting these past few weeks. I'm looking forward to planning a vacation for the Christmas break because I think I'm taking those two weeks off. Of course, the boys are welcome anytime. I'm not sure if Dylan has something to do next week, but I'm free most of the evenings. Now, if you don't mind, I have to put these groceries away before some of the stuff is spoiled." I joke before we say our goodbyes. Laura quickly tells me she will text me if they get tickets for the concert before I take the elevator to the ninth floor.

I curse under my breath because the elevator is too slow in my opinion, and I seriously wonder why both Dylan and I chose to live on the ninth floor. The only disadvantage of this apartment is that the elevator is slow because I'm completely in love with our apartment. I love the income of natural light through the windows, the smell of flowers in every room because Dylan always buys some kind of air freshener with a flowery scent and the way our apartment feels like my home.

Of course, I do miss having my family around me and with me at all times, but I like having my own place. I do miss the way I would always have dinner with my family, and the way my brothers used to goof around the house when they were home from college. I miss that we would always watch movies together on Sunday evening with a large bowl of popcorn.

I hate that Christmas is still more than a month away, which means I'll have to wait for at least four more weeks before I can catch a flight to the states. Like every other year, we always spend Christmas together with the whole family. Oliver will come home with his beautiful wife, Aria, and their two daughters, Everly and Addison. They're both such adorable girls, and I can't wait to see them. Everly turns four in January so I get to secretly give Aria her birthday present during Christmas because I can't be there for her birthday. Addison doesn't turn three until May, meaning her present will probably get to the states with the mail.

Oliver met Aria in his last year of college after he broke it off with Rosie. He told me it just wasn't working between the two of them, and that they both wanted different things. The first time I met Aria, I instantly like her. She has such an enthusiastic vibe around here that you have to like her, and she sometimes feels a bit like my actual big sister instead of sister-in-law.

James also comes with his wife, Jade, and their five-year-old son, Julian. James met his wife in his favorite cafe in town. He would come there every day to get some coffee before work because he said that and I quote, "the coffee machine in his apartment is so bad that the coffee is undrinkable, and you'll most likely die when you take a sip." He tried to buy a new coffee machine, but his roommate loved the coffee from the old machine and refused to buy a new one.
