Vienna, Austria - One month earlier

Caine Williams

"What do you mean the papers aren't here yet? I thought I said I specifically wanted them to be on my desk by Monday, which is today. Mr. Mayr, I'm only here in Austria for three days, and those days are filled with meetings and business deals. I do not have the time to wait for some goddamn papers because you couldn't get your assistant to make sure they were on my desk." My voice is stern, with an emotionless tone revealed in it.

I look around at the office I was allowed to use as I listen to Mayr rambling through the phone, making excuses and apologizing. The office is smaller than my own office at home, but it's fine for now. As I said, I will only be here for three days.

The office is mostly decorated with boring black and white furniture, but it's comfortable. It has a great view over the old city of Austria, and the sunsets are awesome. The office has a huge desk, which is a great perk, considering the number of papers I have to look through in one day.

"Mr. Williams, I promise they will be there in two days. It has been a couple of busy weeks at the office, and there was a lot of work to do. I'm sorry for the delay of the papers, but if you could-" Mr. Mayr starts, making me roll my eyes out of annoyance.

"No, I can't. The papers will be on my desk tomorrow morning when I arrive. If there's not a bundle of papers by tomorrow morning, the deal is off. It's up to you if you want to keep this deal because there are more companies eager to close a deal with me, and I will not hesitate to switch to another company." I interrupt him before he gets the chance to finish his sentence.

"But, sir, you have to understand-" He starts, making up excuses I do not wish to hear. His voice is annoying the hell out of me, and I don't understand what he didn't get out of my statement.

"Tomorrow morning or no deal. Your choice, Mr. Mayr." I say before hanging up the phone and throwing it on the white couch in my office. I sigh deeply out of frustration before I take place on my chair. I grab another bunch of papers, sighing deeply as I know I have to look through these and sign them.

I started my own company while I was still in college, studying. I put my whole life into it, but it definitely paid off because I own one of the biggest and most successful companies in the world. I made this company from a scratch, and I'm glad I took the right opportunities to come where I am now.

The first years were hard for this company as it wasn't very successful, but I didn't give up. I kept trying, knowing that eventually, I'll be successful. Now, I own one of the biggest media companies in the world.

I look up to hear my phone ringing loudly. I grab it from the couch to see Ryan's calling me. We don't talk often because he's busy with his life, and I'm busy with living mine, but whenever we see each other, everything is fine and how it used to be. We don't need to talk every day to be there for each other because I know that if I asked him to help me, he would without giving it a second thought.

"Ryan, how are you? And how's Emily doing?" I ask, leaning back in my chair as I listen to Ryan telling me what's been going on in his life. I look at the beautiful view, which is absolutely breathtaking from where I'm sitting.

"I'm good. Nothing much has been going on here, I've just been working you know. Emily just finished writing a masterpiece for the magazine, we're celebrating it tonight." He says, making me smile softly.

"That's great. Tell her I said congratulations, alright? Also, I'm planning on visiting you soon. We haven't seen each other in a while. How are the other boys?" I ask, curious because we don't see each other so much. Mostly, because I'm very busy with traveling and business deals while they live their lives at home.
