Caine Williams, Seventeen years old at the time
I looked around the room, wondering what this man wanted from me in the first place. We were in a luxurious-looking office that belonged to an enormous mansion. The room was painted with black paint, matching the rest of the room perfectly. I was sitting in a red comfortable chair in front of a large wooden desk, some files were lying beside the tray with expensive whiskey glasses and a huge bottle of whiskey. The bottle wasn't full, half of the liquor already consumed by the mysterious man.
The mysterious man – I had not caught his name yet nor had he introduced himself to me – had approached me earlier this day, requesting a meeting with me in the afternoon. I found it surprising that he wanted to meet with me, and I questioned his interest in me, I'm not the type of guy he should be looking for if he searched for an employee. I wanted to refuse, but something in the tone of his voice told me that it wasn't a question. I couldn't refuse to meet with him, he had made it clear with his stern voice requesting me to be here at exactly five-thirty in the afternoon.
I was walking towards my car when he waved at me, taking off his black shades to show me the same dark brown eyes I had seen a couple of days earlier. He was dressed in a nice, expensive-looking black suit as he stood in front of a dark grey Range Rover. He seemed to have two guards with him, both dressed in dark grey suits, which showed their muscles perfectly. Those dark brown eyes scanned me as I continued to look at them, wondering if I had seen the wave correctly.
My eyes had not fooled me, I had seen it correctly.
That's how I ended up in this expensive-looking office, waiting for a meeting.
I waited patiently in the room, taking in my surrounding as I waited for the mysterious man to enter the room. His secretary told me that he would be with me in a couple of minutes as he was stuck up on some late business calls. Although I wasn't quite sure if he was a businessman, he had not given off the vibe he wanted to discuss business with me. No, he seemed rather serious about something else, but I had no clue what it could be.
I could hear the door open from behind me, but I didn't look over my shoulder to see if it was who I thought it was. The door closed again, and I could hear footsteps approaching the desk as I remained seated in the comfortable red chair. My thoughts were confirmed when the mysterious man took his place in the black chair behind the desk, across from me. He made himself a drink, pouring the whiskey from the bottle in the expensive-looking glasses. He took a sip, staring at me without any shame.
"Mr. Williams, I'm glad you were able to come today. I'm very pleased to finally meet you, your dad once told me about you. His one and only son, Caine Williams." He said, his voice sounding dark and reserved. I raised my eyebrows out of disbelief, knowing that my dad was the last thing on my mind when I wondered about what I was doing here.
"I would say likewise, but I have no clue who I'm meeting here," I said with a cold voice, looking at the man sitting across from me. He seemed to be amused by what I said, but he didn't reply immediately. He took another sip from his drink, a thinking expression crossing his face as he looked at me.
I had no clue what all of this had to do with my dad, but I wasn't too eager to find out. It seemed as if a dark secret would unravel itself in a matter of minutes, and I wasn't quite sure if I want to know it. Everything about the mysterious man screamed trouble and problems, I wasn't sure if I wanted to get involved with trouble and problems. I had enough trouble in my own life, I didn't think I had place for more trouble in it. I was dealing with my own problems and trouble, I had no time for more problems and trouble.
