Opening the door of my apartment with my keys, I hear the loud music coming from the kitchen. I can hear Dylan singing along with some parts of the popular, happy song, and a soft chuckle leaves my mouth as I enter the kitchen. I throw my keys on the kitchen counter and search for something to drink, humming along with the song.

Dylan enters the kitchen, dancing, and singing to the playing song. I shake my head, chuckling softly at the sight. I take a bottle of juice out of the refrigerator, pouring it into a glass before taking a sip. I close my eyes for a second as I let out a huge sigh.

I had a terribly long day at work today after saying goodbye to Caine yesterday morning. I haven't spoken to him today, my schedule was filled with too many things to take a break to properly talk to him. Even during my break, I had to look at patient charts and new procedures, and I almost had no time to properly eat lunch. Of course, Caine and I texted, but they were quick texts between checking on patients and his business meetings.

"I'm going to make some mac and cheese. You want some?" Dylan looks at me with curious eyes as she holds up the cheese and pasta in her hands. She's wearing some grey joggers and a black cropped top, indicating she has been home for quite a while. I quickly nod my head, craving something to eat after such a long day of work.

"I'm going to try and call Caine, alright? I hope he's done with meetings, but I'm not sure." Dylan nods her head, her eyes glistening with some kind of sparkle and hunger for the details. She mouths to me to tell her everything over dinner, and I roll my eyes at her but agree anyways.

I walk over to my room, dropping my bag on the floor as I close the door behind me. I dial Caine's number, hoping he isn't in a business meeting at the moment as I let myself fall onto my bed. It takes a couple of seconds before he answers, and automatically, a happy smile appears on my face.

"Mia, you have no clue how much I wanted to hear your voice." Caine breathes, making my cheeks redden almost immediately. Even if he's on the other side of the North Atlantic Ocean, he still can make me blush with his words. It's crazy how much effect he has on me.

"Are you free to talk a little bit? No more meetings and stuff." I ask him, not wanting to disturb him while working. I bite my lower lip as I hear him chuckle on the other side of the line. His chuckle is like music to my ears, and I can't help but smile whenever I hear it.

"I'm always free for you, my love," Caine tells me smoothly through the phone, making me roll my eyes, but the little smile on my face grows bigger as I register his words. He says it awfully confidently and smoothly, but I know the meaning behind it. I learned a long time ago that Caine tends to tell me things with double meanings behind them.

"So you have no more meetings?" I ask again, hoping I didn't call him while he was in a meeting and disrupting some kind of negotiations about an important deal. Caine is silent for a couple of seconds before he answers.

"No, I walked out of one when you called me." He tells me casually, it doesn't seem to matter to him that he had to walk out of the meeting to answer my phone call, but it does bother me. I didn't mean to interrupt him during the business, I know how these negotiations normally go. They're long and the first ten minutes are always filled with small talk about the weather and how everyone has been.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt one of your upcoming deals. Was the meeting important?" I ask quickly, hoping it was just some kind of report meeting that only held the summary of how the company has been doing. I only wanted to hear his voice for a bit, it's my all-time favorite sound aside from his chuckle.

"Don't worry, my love. You will always be more important than some kind of meeting for my company. Remember, you can always call me, whenever you want." Caine speaks clearly through the phone, wanting me to stop worrying about his meetings. Still, I hope it wasn't an important one.
