I take a glance at the mail on my laptop, sighing deeply as I read the lines quickly. I've been trying to get a job interview for a position in a different hospital in London, but so far many of them haven't even responded or they've declined the filled vacancy.  It's frustrating to see that all of these hospitals tend to believe the lie instead of having confidence in the truth.

Dear Ms. White,

We're sorry to say that we've declined your answer to our vacancy.

We want to thank you for taking the time to fill in the vacancy, but we strongly believe that we're not a good fit for each other. Therefore you will not be invited for a job interview at our hospital.

If they are any issues or questions, do let us know and contact us at the phone number written below. We we'll be in touch with you then.

We wish you the best in searching for a new job.

Kind regards,

Joanna Alden, Head of Patient Care Services.

I know they care about their image as a hospital, and I fully understand it. Yet, I also think they could have at least have some faith in the truth. Even though the gossip might be cleared in the media, people do not tend to forget these things fastly. That's why they don't give me the benefit of the doubt.

I shake my head, feeling like giving up searching for a new position in the hospital. I might as well tell Caine to stop searching for apartments here in London because I'm unable to find a job. I know he says I don't have to work if I don't want to, but I know that wouldn't make me happy. I want to have a job, preferably at a hospital. Of course, I could also look for other jobs in the city, but I don't think I'll find the same joy in working there as I would in a hospital.

I could also search in other cities, but then we'd still have to move cities, and with Caine already setting up his office here and stuff, it's not ideal. It might be an option if I can't find a job here though.

I almost close my laptop when I see another mail coming in. Not all of the hospitals have replied to my vacancy yet, but I don't expect them to. Some might tactically ignore it and let me wonder forever if I got the job. I click on the mail, open it and let my eyes roam over the lines. My heart clenches together.

Dear Ms. White,

We want to thank you for filling out our vacancy, and we're very pleased with what you filled in. We think that you would be a great fit for our hospital and our team, and therefore you have been invited for a job interview. We'd like to get to you know better.

Do let us know when you'd want to meet with us, and we'll settle an appointment. We're looking forward to meeting you in person.

Kind regards,

Kate Winther, Head of patient services.

My eyes widen and I let out a little squeal of excitement when I read the mail again and again. I can't believe they still invited me for a job interview based on my vacancy. I can't wait to give Caine the good news about this.

I take another glance at the mail before replying to it and suggesting to meet up tomorrow or after the weekend. I almost finished my mail when I hear a key in the door lock, turning the doorknob and opening the door. I can hear the female footsteps of heels clicking on the floor.

"Amelia, I'm home. You never guess what just happened, I'm so excited." I hear Dylan's voice through the hallway. I can hear her kicking off her heels in the hall before her light footsteps tiptoeing towards my room. Her face lights up when she sees me, and she quickly takes place at the end of my bed.
