Genevieve Nolson was just a normal girl living in her little apartment in the heart of New York City. She is working on her degree in interior design and living in a shoebox that she could barely afford is slowly drawing her to her whits end. She wants to be able to use her ideas and make her space look like her own, but it isn't as simple as she wants it to be. Her job as a waitress, which is in a little diner just around the corner from her place, had her constantly working when she wasn't busy with classes. Her shifts are always in the evening that just pays enough for her to afford her rent for the month because lord knows living in New York is not cheap.

The diner is family owned that is run by a cute little old couple that goes by the names of Charlene and Dalton Gilbertson and they treat Genevieve like their own granddaughter always calling her "honey" or "sweetheart". In Genevieve's eyes, they are way too kind to her they paid here much more than the other staff working at the diner. Because of her schooling, she really couldn't have another job without being completely overwhelmed. Her shift had just gotten done and she had just clocked out and walked up to Mrs. Gilbertson.

"Hey, Mrs. Gilbertson, I am about to head out and was wondering if you needed anything before I head home for the night?"

"Genevieve dear I've told you, you do not need to call me Mrs. Gilbertson it makes me feel a lot older than I am, please call me Charlene. But no, we are good and don't need anything so you can go ahead and go home. We'll see you tomorrow."

"Alright Mrs.- I mean Charlene, I will see you tomorrow, have a good night" and with that, she left the diner to go home.

She was walking home with her short blonde hair flowing behind her with how fast she was walking because she doesn't like walking in the dark. She reached her door around 10:30 pm and put her key into the lock and went inside. Sighing she put her coat and bag on the hook and headed towards the kitchen because she was starving. She opened the fridge and looked for anything that she could throw together to suffice her hunger.

"Damn, looks like I need to go and do some shopping soon" she mumbled under he breath closing the fridge and going to get her computer to do some of her homework.

She sat on the couch while putting on Law and Order: SVU for some background noise knowing full well that she would get distracted and not finish any of the homework that she had to do. However, that is what she needed, a distraction. A distraction from work, school, and just life in general. She felt like a lost soul ever since her brother and his wife were killed in the New York attack by the Avengers. With them gone she lost the only form of a family she had left and now it was just her, on her own.

She opened her computer making the room light up and she started up the program she needed to do her homework on. While waiting for the program to launch she got up and went to put the kettle on to make herself some tea that way she could stay awake so she's able to submit her assignments on time, they were all due at midnight. While waiting for the kettle to boil she opened her phone to look at all that she needed to do for her assignments. She was interrupted by the high-pitched whistle of the kettle letting her know that her water was done. She poured it into her mug and headed back to her computer. She sat down with a throw blanket and got to work while taking occasional breaks to watch some tv.

About an hour later she decided that she would rather finish her homework in her room. So she waltzed over to her sink to put her mug in, clicked off the tv, and went into her room. She was so close to finishing her last assignment for the night. All that she needed to do was put the final decor items for the living room she had been designing, finalize them, and attach them so she can submit them. She was struggling with the color scheme of the living room because most of the colors clashed with the swatch of blue that she chose. She decided to finally change the blue swatch to a honey yellow swatch and with that, she happily clicked the submit button. As her project was submitting her stomach decided that it was going to make itself know.

"Guess I should really try and find something to eat," she said getting off of her bed and heading back towards the kitchen. She opened up a cupboard she found herself some cereal and a bowl pouring herself a serving and going back into the living room to eat. As she sat on the couch, a bowl of cereal in one hand and the remote in the other, she clicked on the tv to the news channel. While watching she saw that the news team was covering the Avengers. Seeing them on the news made her blood boil because she knew this event many innocent people would get seriously injured or even die. She doesn't like the fact they think they can go around and destroy people's buildings and homes just to stop one criminal, not to even mention the damage that they did to the Gilbetson's original home in the same attack that killed her brother and his wife.

Annoyed she changed the channel to Friends and went back to her cereal. Almost three episodes later Genevieve was asleep on the couch, with her bowl empty next to her and the tv still on playing in the background. She had managed to get the throw blanket from earlier and cover herself with it. She was sleeping peacefully for the first time since her brother's passing when all of the sudden something, or someone, broke her window. She practically jumped out of her skin when she head the noise and as soon as she heard it she was up on her feet ready to fight off whoever just broke into her apartment. She carefully moved toward her window cautious for and broken glass nearby. The robber was hidden by the shadow and Genevieve desperately wanted to see what she was going to have to go up against. She got close to the lamp that was on the side table and flicked it on. The man turned around surprised to see that someone was so close and that someone was actually living in this building because let's be honest it is a super old building. Genevieve knew who that man was but this man was not the person she was expecting to be breaking into her apartment in the middle of the night and she was not even a little bit impressed.
