The man in the rain

Tony Stank

Tony wanted to work with Bucky so he could figure out how his arm worked but he couldn't find him anywhere around the tower. He was getting frustrated because Bucky had agreed to let him take a look at it today and he was nowhere to be found. He threw his head in his hands and let out a sigh of annoyance and got up and headed toward the elevator.

"F.R.I.D.A.Y., where is the cyborg?" he asked entering the elevator and waiting for the AI to respond before he hit a floor button.

"It looks like Mr. Barnes is on the roof. Would you like me to take you to him?" the AI responded in the human-like robot voice.

"Yes, that would be great" tony stated leaning back onto the elevator wall. The lift moved fast towards the roof and when the doors opened he was met with not only James but the ignorant girl from a couple of weeks ago. He was not happy with the fact that she was in the tower and wanted to know why she was there. He could also tell that she was not expecting to see him and the look on her face mirrored his and the hatred between the two was mutual.

James felt the energy between the two shift and saw that Vieve became uncomfortable and folded her arm across her chest and her head sunk to look at the ground. Tony stepped out of the elevator and made his way to the pair, while he was doing so James moved in front of Vieve not in a way that meant he didn't want Tony to see her, but in a way where anything that Tony said about her she wouldn't hear.

"Hey Tony, what's up?" James asked meeting him halfway and trying not to let Genevieve hear the panic in his voice.

"What's up cyborg, is that you said that I could take a look at that arm of yours today, but yet it is getting closer and closer to the end of the day and I still haven't taken a look" he snorted back. Bucky hated the nicknames that Tony would give him. It made him feel like less and less of a human and more like a robot.

"Listen, Tony, I'm kind of busy right now is there any way I could just stop by your lab tomorrow?" he asked hoping Tony would have some sympathy for him.

"What you're busy with her?" he raised his voice loud enough for Vieve to hear and she looked up at him. "You know she's a snot-nosed brat who is entitled and ungrateful," he said maliciously knowing very well that she had heard him. He smirked with glee when he saw the tears start to well up in her eyes and that caused James to look back at her. James saw the tears in her eyes and felt that he needed to get her out of that situation before Tony, said something to make her leave. He didn't know why Tony didn't like her, what was not to like, and what did he mean by her being a "brat".

"Okay, okay. I'll come down to your lab. How long is this going to take?" he asked rubbing the bridge of his nose with his thumb and finger trying to get the stress headache that was forming to go away. He turned to look at Vieve, but she was over by the edge of the building with her head in her hands and just looking at the horizon. He didn't want to leave her up there, or at all but he also didn't want Tony bothering them all night, especially since Tony is not her biggest fan.

"Oh it would only take a couple of hours" Tony replied slyly "there are a bunch of tests that I want to run," he said turning towards the elevator, signaling to Bucky that he wanted him to follow along. However, James didn't follow. He was getting mad because he could tell that Tony didn't like Vieve but he didn't know why he was trying to sabotage their day. James turned to Vieve once again and saw that she was now crying. Tony reached the elevator and turned to James and Bucky held up a one with his hand telling him that he would be there in a minute. Tony, of course, did not like the answer so he rolled his eyes. "I'll be in my lab, see you in five," Tony said closing the elevator doors and descending.

Bucky slowly made his way over to Vieve wanting to engulf her in a hug to make all of her worries float away, but he didn't know how she would react to that. She was trying her best to show that she was okay but James could see right through it, he knew that she wasn't okay and that broke his heart.

"Vieve," he said timidly making sure not to frighten her. But when she turned to him his heart broke, even more, her makeup was streamed down her face meaning she had been crying pretty hard. "Don't mind Tony he's just being like that because he didn't get his way. He's just taking his anger out on you because he doesn't know you." James said trying to comfort her but it only made her cry harder. He didn't know what to do.

"Except he does, he does know who I am and I did absolutely nothing for him to hate me or for him to call me names. He's just an evil person. Maybe it was a mistake coming here." she finally spoke and tried to make her way to the elevator but she was stopped by James grabbing her wrist and making her turn to him. He had a puzzled look on his face wondering how Tony knew her and why he was being a complete dick to her. When he made eye contact with her, her eyes were screaming for him to hug her, and so he did. He gently pulled her arm so that way she was closer and he wrapped his arms around her shoulders and hugged her tight.

Vieve wasn't expecting this to happen but she was glad that it did. She felt so safe in his arms. She felt relief wash over her body and she snaked her arms around his waist and laid her head against his chest and just sobbed into his strong build. The sobs didn't seem to bother James and it was like he was absorbing them. It took her a minute to compose herself but when she did and she looked up she was met with his ice-blue eyes. She could see the concern in them, but she couldn't explain she was entranced by his gaze. They were locked into each other's eyes and felt the comfort in the hug that they were both in. The tension between the two was building and just as James was leaning in to kiss her F.R.I.D.A.Y. spoke over the system.

"Mr. Barnes, Mr. Stark said that he is waiting for you in his lab" the AI stated, while Bucky let out an annoyed sigh and dropped his head.

"I'm sorry G, I had a lot planned for today, but I guess Tony has other plans," he said releasing the hug but the distance between the two was still short. He felt a hand on his face and he looked to meet her eyes.

"It's okay James, I promise. I know that Tony isn't the kindest person and we really aren't the biggest fans of each other, but if you need to go, then go. I'll still be here when you're done. I can just find Steve or something." she stated rubbing her thumb along his cheek to bring him comfort.

He felt something just then that he hadn't felt in his life, but he didn't know what it was. He just smiled from ear to ear and then gave her another big hug, this time picking her up and spinning her around. He placed her feet back on the ground just as the AI was about to speak again.

"F.R.I.D.A.Y., tell Tony that I am on my way down" and with that, he took Vieve's hand and went to the elevator and pushed the button to the main floor that the team would hang out on.

Hi yall. sorry for the disappearance again, been going through a lot and I needed to focus on school because I was failing some classes. But I  am here now with this chapter and Another one after this. It is summer for me so I will be able to type for you guys more and more.
