A small conversation goes a long way

The diner wasn't as busy as Vieve was hopping but it was still a distraction from life, which was nice. By the time the diner was closed, most of the closing tasks were done just by Vieve and all of the other staff appreciated her hard work so they could get home earlier. She however was not excited to go home, she knew that she was going to be alone with her thoughts and she didn't want that. She finished cleaning all of the tables, which was the last task and went to hang up her apron. She walked out the door of the diner while having no clue where she wanted to go, all she knew is that she didn't want to go home.

She was walking down the streets of the city and the temperature was starting to drop. She was in such a rush that she forgot a coat and she was really starting to get cold. She was trying to find any place that was open where she could just stop in for a second to warm up until a black Cadillac pulled up next to her. She was creeped out by that and quickened her pace. She heard the door to the car open and shut, but she kept going. It wasn't until she heard her name that she stopped.

"Genevieve, stop," Nat said walking towards her. She had been following her for some time now. When she went to the surveillance room she watched Vieve get into a cab and followed that cab to the diner. She then got into the Cadillac and made her way to where Genevive was. She sat in the very far corner booth and made sure that she had the other server that was there to help her. During all of her years working as an assassin she was able to gain the skills of following and getting the information she needed. As the diner closed she got back into the car and waited for Vieve to leave. She could tell that Vieve was getting cold so she knew she had to stop her. "Genevieve, can we please talk?"

"Why? So I can make a fool of myself in front of you again? So you can see how much of a bitch I am?" she asked turning around.

"Vieve no, I wanted to apologize to you. I didn't know you didn't know, and to be honest I wanted to tell you that we do not think of you like that. In the short time that we got to be with you we could see that Tony was wrong" she stated and was hoping she got through to her.

"You know I know I am not a bitch, but sometimes I am to certain people and Tony is one of those people. I was able to forgive most of you guys for the attack and killing my brother and sister, but I cannot and will not forgive that bastard. He has no clue the effect these brutal battles have on the lives of those who lost their people while you guys get to live free. You guys have no clue how hard that is" she said raising her voice in anger. "You guys don't even bother to go to the dedication of the fucking memorial for all of the people you killed. So yeah, sometimes I am a bitch, but when I am it's deserved" she said now yelling causing people who were passing by to stare.

Nat knew that the battles they fought took a toll on people, but she had never seen how bad until now. She felt the tears in her eyes starting to form and threatening to escape. She stepped closer to Vieve and pulled her into a hug which she melted into. She knew that Tony was in the wrong she had no clue how miserable the lives of those who lost people were. She was guilt-ridden and made a promise to herself right there to always try and save everyone that she could.

"Vieve, I am truly sorry. I didn't know, we all didn't know until you told us. I-" she was cut off.

"I don't want an apology, you guys are all alike. You only care about what happens during the moment. You are never there to see how the community heals or rebuilds. You never do anything to help us heal. You can do what you want. I wish I could say that I had fun today," Vieve walked away and made her way to her apartment. Nat just sat there. She understood that Vieve was angry but she had every right to be, she was just called a bitch by someone who doesn't even know her life story only now after a few minutes of interaction. Nat decided then that she was going to have a word or two with Tony.

She jumped into the black Cadillac and sped off towards the tower. She just made a new friend and didn't want to lose her within a couple of hours. She pulled into the underground parking and made her way to up to the community floor. She pushed the button to close the door and she was on her way.

The lift reached the floor of the destination and as soon as the doors opened, she rushed over to tiny and it took everything in her power not to hurt him.

"Tony, have you ever had a conversation with Genevive, like one where you actually get to know where she came from getting to know her life? One conversation where she wasn't startled out of her sleep by you or Cap?" she asked in her calm but angry voice.

Tony was taken aback and didn't really have an interest in this conversation and just as he was about to answer he was interrupted.

"I'm with Nat on this one. What do you know about her and not just one of your silly assumptions about her?" Bucky questioned and made his way to the pair. Tony was getting really annoyed now. He didn't want to answer these questions because they were right. He knew nothing about her and the only things he did know were things that he'd made up. He hated to admit that he was wrong and that he wasn't going to start today.

"Well, what I do know is that she has an attitude and that she is selfish. Not to mention she is thousands of dollars in debt for god knows what reasons. Oh! And that she manipulated all of you into thinking she is a genuinely caring person" he said proudly of his answer. He knew that it was going to make them even more furious because he did do a little bit of a background check on her after their first encounter.

"Tony wake up!" Nat spoke, "This isn't about you right now, you have continuously beaten down this girl you barely know and she has every right to dislike you. God, if you were to have one conversation with her you would know why she is so mad at you, we killed her brother and her sister right after her parents died. Do you realize the anger she feels towards you is the same anger you felt towards Bucky when you first found out what he did?"

"She was ready to forgive you, she had forgiven everyone else and she just needed to talk to you about it, but you went and blew that chance right out of the water" Bucky spoke backing up Nat. They had said something that hit Tony and he was able to finally see the feelings that Vieve was feeling and how awful she must have felt leaving.

"I need to find her" Tony said standing up and making his way out of the building.
