It was hard for James to not see how quickly Vieve's face fell when she looked at the door. It was like she was having the time of her life and it quickly vanished with the sound of a single bell. He looked at her and the look upon her face wasn't anything he thought he would see on her face today. It looked like it was pure anger and rage. He wasn't necessarily scared but more worried as to what could make her so mad.

Vieve realized how her mood was affecting his and so she gave one last glare to the man at the door without him noticing. She turned her attention back to the man sitting in front of her.

"I'm sorry about that, it's a habit that I have whenever that stupid bell rings," she said giving him a small peaceful smile. He looked at that smile and knew that she was fine, but still doesn't explain why she got so upset for no reason.

"Don't worry about it" he smiled "thanks for the help with what happened back there" he said turning his face down and not wanting to make eye contact anymore. He didn't really want to explain why it happened, at least not right here in the diner. He suddenly felt a hand on his causing him to look up. It was her. She knew that he was struggling and she didn't want to pry but she also wanted to show him that she is there for him, even though they just met.

James felt his cheeks start to heat up, but before he could say anything to her he felt a hand on his shoulder. She looked up at the person who put their hand on James and that same look of anger from before. He was about to turn around when he heard Steve's voice.

"Buck, you know you can't just leave without telling any of us. We were worried about you" He said and James looked up at Vieve expecting her to still be there, but she was gone. Bucky looked around and tried to see if she was anywhere and he caught a glimpse of her leaving the diner. He gave Steve a look signifying that he would be right back. He darted toward the door and called out her name.

"Genevieve! Wait!" He yelled calling after her, not expecting her to stop. But she did, right in her tracks. She wanted to hear him out, about how he knew Captain America. She turned to face him and he could see the hurt and the anger, but he didn't know why she looked so hurt that Steve had shown up.

"Hey, what's wrong? Why did you leave?" he said trying to look into her eyes and see if he could find an answer but she wasn't looking at him. He was searching for something an ounce of knowledge to know her and to understand her but he couldn't find anything until she looked back up at him with the same sad look she had when they first met. He couldn't ignore that look, she looked so broken and tired. He didn't think about his next move but he should have. He pulled her into a hug and when he did that she immediately fell into the hug.  He looked down at her and she looked back up at him with the night surrounding them.

The hug was short because Vieve still needed answers. She did like James and she was looking forward to having dinner with him but the fact that Steve knew where he was and called him by a different name, made her think that he lied to her about who he was.

"How do you know Steve?" She asked and there was a tinge of hatred laced in his name. That took James aback and he was wondering how she knew him, but he knew that she needed answers before he got his.

"We are friends, we have been best friends for years now. Ever since we were in high school" He said the whole truth because he was tired of hiding who he was, and he really didn't want to hide from this girl who seemed so genuine.

She didn't like that they were friends. She crossed her arms to the answer and was debating on walking away, but she knew James needed an explanation as to why Steve aggravates her so much.  She let out a sigh and went to go sit on the bench facing the street. James followed and took a seat right next to her. He was waiting for her to talk because that sigh was a sigh to lead to more of a conversation that needed to happen between the two.

"You remember how I told you how my brother died in the attack?" she asked and he hummed a reply. "Well, the reason I walked out when Steve showed up is that he is the reason that my brother and sister are not with me anymore" She let out with a little sob while throwing her head into her hands.

Bucky didn't know what to say. He just kind of sat there and processed what she had just said. What did she mean by Steve was the one to kill her brother. It had to have been an accident right? He saw that she was crying and he didn't want the night to end like this.

"Genevieve?" He said cautiously, but she wouldn't look up at him. He looked around and still saw Steve waiting for him. He help up one finger to him, and Steve gave him a nod of approval. "Vieve," he said again and this time he put a hand on her back.  She looked up at him, tears glistening in her eyes. The hurt he saw broke him. "I understand, I don't blame you for hating him. I would too if I were in your situation, but have you ever thought about how shitty Steve himself feels. He knows that he hurt many people and that he would take it back if he could, but he can't. I'm not saying that you have to forgive him or even talk to him but just think about what I said okay?" He said not trying to show her that he was going to take Steve's side but he also needed to show her that he was not going to degrade his best friend.

The words that James said really affected Genevieve. She had never really taken into thought about how Steve, or any of the Avengers, felt. She looked at James and he could tell that his words really affected her as if she had never thought about that. James looked at her and he felt a connection with her that he has never felt with anyone ever.

"I know that I have never taken into consideration how any of you guys felt about the incident, but it was just so much easier to blame someone rather than just having them gone forever without a reason. I loved them so much, but I know that having the weight of saving the world on your shoulders has to be tough. Is Steve still here?" She asked looking at him with her tear-stained face. James looked at her in a way as if he was asking her if she was sure. Vieve got the look and nodded in reassurance. James nodded in the direction of where Steve was standing.

Vieve looked back at him and gave a weak smile, in which Steve had returned. She stood up and James followed her. She gave him one last look of sadness, turned on her heel, and headed in the direction of where Steve was standing.
