"What happened?" (y/n) asks one of the officers.
"It was Toga," he explains, a mild panic lacing his voice, "she was disguised as Tsukauchi but she must have run out of time because her disguise melted."
Upon entering the police station, the two heroes and detective found everyone tied up or injured. The three immediately got to work untying people and treating injuries they could. A few other pros and an ambulance were called to help.
After all the injuries were treated or those more seriously injured were taken to the hospital, (y/n) was finally able to bring up her main concern to Detective Tsukauchi. He furrows his eyebrows in concentration as he tries to figure out a solution to the dilemma.
"I had already started my investigation and had found a few clues for you to examine," (y/n) explains, "I brought them to the station earlier this morning, I had given what I found to Toga, thinking she was you. Now she has most of the evidence I gathered and we don't know much about it at all."
There's silence between the two for a moment as the detective ponders their next move.
"Wait, you said most," Tsukauchi remembers, "please, clarify."
"Yeah," (y/n) confirms, "I still have a picture I took of an inscription I found."
"Show me."
(y/n) nods and pulls up the picture on her phone. Detective Tsukauchi inspects the image for a moment before leading (y/n) to a computer in a different room. He types for a few minutes, occasionally glancing back at the photo. Once he's finished he turns to (y/n) with a smile.
"So, we do have a match," he says, "This insignia in the inscription are matched to a small Yakuza group called the Maromma Yakuza. They work mostly under the radar and specialize in weapon smuggling."
"I see," (y/n) replies, "that means it's likely that the unknown machine is a weapon of some kind or the League of Villains offered some sort of valuable weapon, that way they have an incentive to take the project."
"That makes sense," the detective agrees, "though we can't rule out the more simple incentive, money."
"While that's true, the Yakuza tend to have pride. I don't believe that they would take a bribe."
"You certainly seem to know quite a bit about the Yakuza," the detective observes, "Any particular reason?"
(y/n) shakes her head, "I learned it from another hero I worked with back in America," she explains.
Tsukauchi nods, convinced, and (y/n) leaves.
Her small breath of relief goes unnoticed by the detective.
(Y/n) exits the crime scene once the cleanup is complete. As she leaves through the back door, she sees many reporters crowding the chief of police in front of the building. She sighs, knowing that this will be on the news later.
The league got exactly what they wanted.
You see, (y/n) has already figured out most of what's going on with the league through simple logic and observations, something commonly forgotten in the complex days.
First, the lab robbery.
The project, as it's been called, is important, that much is obvious. While what it does has yet to be discovered, it will no doubt help the League of Villains in advancing their agenda.(y/n) figures it may have something to do with quirks. The reason being is that All-For-One is still in prison, just as he has been for around seven years. He was captured while (y/n) and Katsuki were attending school in America so she heard about it on the news.
Without their former master, the league cannot manipulate quirks and are likely met with a shortage of powerful nomus as a result. Though that's just a theory.
Second, Toga disguising herself as Tsukauchi.
At face value, it may seem that her goal was gathering information. However, (y/n) believes there's more to the picture. After all, if Toga only wanted information, why attack the officers?
Now, there are many possible reasons, let's consider a few.
For starters, she could have run out of time. Toga cannot hold a transformation forever, it's dependant on the amount of blood she consumes. This is a commonly known fact and at face value, this explanation seems plausible. However, you need to take Toga's intelligence into account. Toga knows her quirk inside and out, meaning she knows exactly how long her quirk will last based on the amount of blood she drank beforehand. If her goal was to gather information, she would have left with enough time before her transformation wears off to escape.
The second option, she could have lost control of herself and simply attacked. This is highly unlikely, seeing as Toga is an incredible actress. While she 'let's loose' on the battlefield, she's disciplined enough to play whatever role she must to perfection.
The final theory to consider is that the attack was another goal of hers. This option is the one that (y/n) has deemed most likely. Attacking the police station offers three advantages to the League:
-First, they weaken their opponents by injuring certain officers. While (y/n) isn't aware of exactly how many officers were taken to the hospital or must take a leave of absence, though it quite a lot, meaning fewer officers to work on any cases related to the League of Villains.
-Second, Toga likely used the attacks as an opportunity to collect blood from some of the officers. As a result, she likely has access to many disguises and in turn, access to the station if she times her infiltration right.
-Finally, the attack is the League of Villains' first public reappearance, as the first few sightings were kept mostly under wraps by the hero commission. The sudden reappearance of a very famous villain group that has been silent for years will no doubt cause fear among civilians, possibly making them question whether or not the heroes can protect them.
(y/n) sighs as she returns to her hotel room. To calm her nerves, she decides to call her husband for some much-needed comfort.
