Chapter 1~Our life

Silence.

Peace.

Rest.

"MOMMY!"

Children.

The sudden weight on her stomach mixed with the cheerful screams shakes (y/n) from her sleep. Her eyes shoot open and immediately land on the two cheery children giggling on top of her.

"Well, well, well., What do we have here?"

The two children giggle and climb off their mother, allowing her to sit up properly and stretch her stiff joints. She quickly gets up and herds the twins toward the kitchen for breakfast. There she finds her husband already up and cooking a delicious breakfast for everyone.

"Good morning Katsuki,"

The ash-blonde turns around at the sound of his love's voice. Giving his wife a small, tired smile that makes her heart flutter.

"Good morning, Teddybear,"

"Have a good day at daycare you two... OH! And no getting into fights with anyone Aiko! Hiro, keep your sister out of trouble."

The twins giggle as they wave to their parents. The blonde-haired girl sticks out her middle finger, earning a scold from her mother and a proud laugh from her father. Her (h/c) haired brother covers his eyes in embarrassment and walks away, giving a quick goodbye to his mother and pretending not to know his father and sister.

"Have a great day at work teddybear. Be careful." Katsuki says, giving his wife a quick kiss. (Y/n) smiles.

"I will, I promise. Have fun babe, try not to kill anyone," she replies.

"No promises," The ash-blond responds, his trademark smirk gracing his features.

"See you tonight, I'll make pizza for dinner," and with those words, Katsuki drives off.

"Good morning, Phoenix, work is mostly paperwork today it seems," Nightmare greets, holding multiple files. She hands three overflowing files to (y/n) and simply says, "These are assigned to you, plus there are a few virtual files. They should be in an email titled with today's date and 'files.' Have a nice day, I have to get back to handing these out before my patrol," and with that, she walks away.

(Y/n) sighs and walks to her office.

The Flamming Dreams agency is ranked number 3 in the country. (y/n), Amethyst and Ruby started it immediately after becoming the fifth, seventh, and fifteenth-ranked heroes. The three high school friends worked hard and while it wasn't always easy, they did become a high-ranked agency quickly due to their status.

Ruby, AKA Nightmare, is ranked fifteenth on the charts. Her quirk isn't the flashiest since it's mostly mental, which made it difficult for her to rise in the ranks. Though it seems that her quick-witted nature and savage comebacks earned her quite the following, most of which come from social media because she roasted them.

Amethyst, AKA Comet. She changed her hero name after graduation, much to the surprise of her friends and former classmates. While her quirk is rather powerful, what really boosted her career was when she took up vlogging. Not a lot of heroes do vlogs because it can impact their fighting, but Amethyst just uses her quirk to hold and control her camera while she fights.

Finally, we have our protagonist, (y/n), AKA Phoenix. Ranked fifth in the American hero charts, she's the top female hero in America. She's well known for her thorough investigations and the fact that she's never wrongly convicted anyone. That, mixed with her powerful attacks made her immensely popular quickly.

(y/n) sits at her desk and grabs a pen. She starts carefully reading through the first file. It's a simple one, just filled with a few case confirmations. She's able to get through the papers quickly and immediately starts on the second file.

The second file takes much longer and halfway through she has to take her lunch break.

(y/n) walks to the private lunchroom, a small lounge meant only for her, Amethyst, Ruby, and sometimes special clients. It's nicer than the main cafeteria meant for interns, sidekicks, and other workers. Plus the cupboard has been filled to the brim by the girls with chocolate.

(Y/n) opens the fridge and pulls out some leftover Chinese takeout that the girls had ordered the previous day. She warms up what she can in the microwave and collapses onto one of the leather couches. After a few minutes of silence, Ruby walks in, still in costume from patrol, and calmly grabs an apple.

"How was patrol?" (y/n) asks, taking a bite of some noodles.

"Three small robberies and some weirdo destroying train tracks," Ruby replies, opening the fridge. She pulls out a few ingredients and proceeds to make two subs.

(y/n) eyes the two sandwiches questioningly. Ruby notices her friend's stare rather quickly.

"Amethyst will be back from her interview soon, so I'm making her a sandwich," Ruby explains.

(y/n) nods and returns to her meal. Amethyst arrives soon after so she and Ruby join (y/n) on the couch. The three women chat happily about their days and lives. Most stories come from Ruby and Amethyst who actually got out of the office that day.

No one wants to hear about paperwork.

They did end up discussing paperwork since some of it impacts the agency.

Once (y/n) finishes her lunch break, she says goodbye to her friends and walks to the changing room to get ready for her patrol.

After graduating, (y/n) changed her hero costume for the third time. While it isn't uncommon for heroes to update their costumes, to change them as completely as (y/n) has done is quite abnormal.

Even so, (y/n) doesn't regret her decision to allow Mya and Travis to design another new costume. She wore it for her hero debut and hasn't changed it since.

Her costume is now a one-piece with a pair of black-heeled wedges. The one-piece is quite reminiscent of a cheongsam, or qipao, with the collar and form-fitting shape. However, unlike a qipao, the costume isn't a dress but rather has shorts instead of a skirt. The bottom half of the outfit is black. The black fabric creates a flame-like pattern and the rest of the outfit it (f/c), save for a single black flame design on the left sleeve.

After she finishes changing, she quickly leaves for her patrol.
