(Reader POV)

The beeping of a heart monitor fills my ears, telling me where I am before I even open my eyes. My eyelids feel heavy, making it difficult to wake up.

When I do, I'm not met with the stereotypical blinding light I was expecting. Instead, dim lighting makes its way through the surrounding pale fabric. I blink a few times to adjust before taking in my surroundings.

There isn't much to take in aside from the curtains separating me from the rest of the room. As I listen quietly, I begin to hear voices and footsteps. They get louder as they near me, and soon I can recognize the voices.

An elderly woman.

An adult male.

A little girl.

A little boy.

I recognize the voices of my family members immediately. I open my mouth to call out to them, but I can't seem to make a sound. I try again, and again, and again.

Nothing.

"She needs rest," the elderly voice says, "even when she wakes up she may have difficulty speaking or breathing due to the smoke intake."

"How serious is it?" the adult male, Katsuki, asks.

"Nothing life-threatening anymore," the elderly woman replies, "Her quirk makes her somewhat resistant to fire and heat, so the greatest concern was oxygen. Fortunately, she recovered from that rather quickly with the oxygen mask. I would still like to prescribe an inhaler temporarily. She'll have to take it whenever she feels like she can't breathe."

"Alright..." Katsuki says. I can hear the sadness and relief in his voice. All I want to do is jump out of this cot and hug him; I want to assure my husband that everything will be alright.

"On a much more positive note, I have some information regarding your daughter's quirk." the elderly woman says. I hear the creaking of an old chair spinning and the shuffling of papers. I listen closely, I can nearly feel the excitement radiating off of my family. Especially Aiko, she's always had a contagious smile and excitement that fill the room.

"What is it? What is it?" She asks, I can hear the tiny thumps of my daughter jumping to get a better look.

"Calm down dear, just give me a moment," the elderly woman says, "so...I'll start with the name."

"Yeah, yeah!"

"Alright, so this quirk is a carbon copy of a past quirk called Incinerate. Those flames will spread to anything she wills them to, completely burning it to the point of dust, or just providing a slow burn, it's up to her. As she grows she may discover more about her quirk, but for now that is all the information I have."

"So, I can be a hero!"

"Well-" "Of course you can, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise." My husband interrupts what was most certainly about to be a negative comment from the elderly doctor. I smile, no one gets to tell my children what they can or can't be.

...

Wait...

I smiled...

Once I realize what I've done I try again. Once again, I smile. I try to move my wrists, legs, head, and shoulders.

Everything can move.

"K-Kat?"

"Teddybear!"

Katsuki quickly opens the curtain, revealing his tired form to me. Visible eyebags create dark circles under his eyes. Tears begin to fall but his expression remains shocked and happy.

"You're alive, Teddybear..." He chokes out. My kids quickly come into view, nearly jumping on me had Katsuki not held them back a little.

"Come here, little ones," I say, opening my arms for my children. I cough a little and my throat feels scratchy, which the elderly doctor, whom I recognize as Recovery Girl, responds to by bringing me a glass of much-needed water. I give her a small thank you before returning all my attention to my family.

"Good morning Aiko. Good morning Hiro."

"We're so glad you're awake Mommy," Aiko cries, clutching my shirt as though I'll disappear.

"We thought you wouldn't wake up ever!!" Hiro admits through his tears and sobs as he clutches my arm.

"I promise, little ones, I'll fight everything and everyone to get back to you guys."

"And we're going to hold you to that," Kat adds, reaching for my free hand.

"That's fine. I'm fine with that."

We sit in peaceful silence, the only sound is the beating of the nearby heart monitor and the odd sound of shuffling from someone trying to get more comfortable. I hum softly, lulling my dear children to sleep. Katsuki joins me, allowing me to cuddle closer into his chest. Finally, when the children are fast asleep, I turn to ask Katsuki a question that has been on my mind since I overheard RG explaining my injuries to Katsuki.

Specifically, what she didn't mention.

"Katsuki..." I begin. The trail in my voice puts Katsuki on alert. He tries to relax, and I help by nuzzling a little closer. He returns the gesture, nuzzling into my probably greasy hair. He hums, letting me know to continue.

"Did..." I take a deep, shaky breath, "did Recovery Girl say anything about a baby?"

Katsuki seems to freeze for a moment, my words processing in his brain. I watch his eyes widen in realization as the words set in. His hand moves to my belly, gently caressing it.

"You're pregnant?" he whispers. Tears start to prick the corner of my eyes.

"I don't know anymore..."

Katsuki takes a short breath and gives me a quick forehead kiss.

"I'll go get recovery girl."

Kat isn't gone for very long, maybe only a few minutes. He returns with the 'Youthful' hero in tow.

And she looks concerned.
