(Kirishima's POV)

She really thought she could fool me?

I smirk as I lay back on my bed. I can hear her panicked breathing from the other side of the wall. I do feel a little bad, but she challenged me.

Despite how it may seem, I'm not the bad guy. My parents passed on the family business to me in my second year at UA. If I'm being honest, I didn't know how to handle the sudden responsibility and I wasn't too keen on learning about it.

Being the younger sibling between my brother and me, I never thought I would become the leader of the 'family business.' I had set my sights on being a hero, believing that it wouldn't cause any problems.

I was wrong, I know that now.

I still want to be a hero, that's why I haven't stopped working as Red Riot. If I was really dedicated to the mafia I would've quit a long time ago.

Instead of quitting, I decided to try and change the way things are run, but it's easier said than done.

I stopped accepting assassination requests, no matter the amount of money they offer. That meant less money for the mafia, meaning either firing people (which would normally force me to kill them to avoid any information leaks or betrayals) or allowing the business itself to struggle. To compensate, I hired Mei Hatsume.

Hatsume was more than willing to work under me, considering she now has more freedom with her inventing. Selling her inventions, in return for providing her with everything she needs, made the Maromma Mafia famous among the underground. I started working with this new revenue, opening a few stores and even opening a gym. Slowly but surely, I was able to build a small fortune and a steady flow of revenue to work with.

Then came the league.

You can imagine my surprise when they appeared with quite the tempting offer. Where they got the money, I don't know, but I didn't care.

We had a meeting, it lasted about an hour. Present was Hatsume, myself, Shigaraki, and Kurogiri. We talked about the strange project they wanted our help with. I could see the wheels turning in Hatsume's head as Shigaraki explained everything. She wanted to try it, I could see, but I wasn't so sure.

I voiced my concerns about the project, and I didn't receive a satisfying response. I denied the project and turned them away. I could tell they weren't too pleased with my decision but left nonetheless.

I think about two weeks passed before they decided to attack one of our warehouses. What's worse, is the contents they stole.

There were about 6 well-trained guards and 8 workers there at the time. By the time reinforcements arrived, they had all died. When we examined the inventory, we found that 6 items were missing.

2 of them were custom sniper rifles with special scopes.

3 of them were explosives.

1 was our most valuable project, a quirk canceling serum we had just finished making.

Another month, swamped with paperwork and sending out people to track down the league. They had disappeared without a trace and we couldn't find even a spec of a clue. I was frustrated, to say the least. Then, I was suddenly called to the hero conference as Red Riot. I wasn't given many details but I wasn't going to shirk my duties as a hero because of my stress over the Mafia.

When I learned about the league's attack on the lab I knew the league had used the stolen equipment to get the job done. That meant that the attacks could be traced back to the Maromma Mafia.

I got to work, doing my best to keep everything under wraps. It didn't work because before I could even start destroying the evidence, an overachieving hero started meddling.

(y/n) Bakugo quickly became a thorn in my side on her first day. My spy within the police informed me right away that our connection was discovered. I intended to confront Phoenix the next day as Red Riot. I figured I could approach her during her investigations and learn what she knows, implant any ideas I need to, and make sure that she realized that the mafia had nothing to do with anything.

Unfortunately, that girl works fast. She went rogue before anyone could blink.

Even with her out there, I had to keep working as not to raise suspicion. Luck was on my side, however, when I hired our new recruit. A trusted member of the mafia vouched for her skills and reliability, so I decided to see what she could do.

I recognized her fighting style pretty quickly, plus she made the mistake of choosing her favorite color to dye her hair. Even her suit is reminiscent of her old costume. I decided to mess with her. I have two associates with interesting quirks.

One can pause time for up to an hour.

The other can gather information just by looking at someone.

I had the two of them work quickly to add things to her room, all to make the girl paranoid. I know she already knows who I am, now I'm telling her that I know who she is.

Tomorrow, I'll approach her about this entire situation. I'll make her see that we aren't enemies, rather we can be allies. She's smart, she'll make the right decision.

Now, I just need to get some rest.
