First day of work...
Right back to where my story started...
UA Highschool for Heroes.
But this time, I'm no longer a student, I'm a teacher.
"Alright class, meet your new battle teacher. Phoenix."
After Nezu introduces me I wave to my new class. Many look at me, confused as to who I am. Nezu hops down from my shoulder and sits on the side of the cement building to observe the class. Lion follows, deciding the Nezu is far more interesting than the class.
"Hello class," I greet, "As Nezu explained, my name is Phoenix. Many of you haven't heard of me because I'm a pro hero in America. My husband, Dynamite, and I just moved here. Any questions before we get started with the class?"
A girl raises her hand. She has curly blue hair, bright red eyes, and a little horn on the right of her head. I nod, asking her to introduce herself before she asks her question.
"Hello, my name is Eri. Are you Mr. Deku's old friend?"
Before I can open my mouth to answer, most of the teenagers laugh.
"For goodness sake, Eri," one says through laughter, "stop pretending like you know the pro heroes."
"As if any hero would even look at you, LOL!" another says.
Observing the scene, I feel a familiar sense of dread. Bullying, teasing, and general picking on. These children remind me of class 1-A before I left but with less anger. Instead, the anger is building up in me. I hate bullying.
"ENOUGH!"
I light my hair on fire for added effect, a trick I learned from our dear Shota Aizawa. It mimics the tired man's hair, and the (f/c) glow in my eyes replicates his red one. I extinguish the flames and walk towards the poor, anxious bluenette. The frightened students clear the way, making a path for me.
"Hello, Eri. I've been waiting to meet you," I say as gently as possible with a smile, "the other heroes have told me a lot about you. I'm excited to see what you can do."
I watch Eri's eyes light up as a smile spreads on her face.
"Ok!"
"And, to answer your question, Yes and no. Deku and I were briefly friends in our first year at UA, but I moved away soon after. My husband, however, grew up with Deku. The two of them have known each other since birth."
The class of future heroes stands in shock for a moment and I can hear Nezu laughing, or cackling.
"Alright, let's get started with class," I say, raising my voice a little to be sure everyone can hear me, "I want to see what you can do. Pair up for sparring matches. I'll let you pick your opponent today, but usually, I'll choose who you spar against."
The class nods and quickly pair up with their friends to spar. I call up the first pair to spar, two boys.
"Alright, ready?"
Both boys nod so I raise my hand and begin to count down.
"3...2...1...Begin"
The two boys charge at each other. The first boy to make a move activates his quirk, shown by the crimson glow that appears around his fist. He attempts to punch his opponent, but the boy ducks before the fist connects.
The second boy decides to activate his quirk, something to do with light as he seems to glow brightly, blinding me and his opponent. He takes the chance to flip his opponent over his shoulder and out of bounds.
The match ends with no serious injuries so I have them stand on the side.
The next match is Eri against a girl with flowers blooming from her hair. The two of them stand opposite each other and prepare for their battle. I watch vines sprout from the floral girl's wrists, and Eri's horn grows and glows as she clutches a familiar-looking scarf.
"Alright," I start, "Begin!"
Eri charges at her opponent, throwing her scarf toward the other girl. The other girl's vines grow rapidly and rush toward Eri, one grabbing the scarf while the others attack. With her scarf unavailable, Eri opts to use her quirk. Her horn glows brightly as she just barely grazes some of the vines with her hands.
Having been "somewhat informed" by Midoriya and one of his long-winded rants, I know what to expect.
I watch the vines retreat into the girl's wrist, and how she winced makes me assume it must be painful. The girl pauses for a moment to rub her wrists and Eri acts fast. She throws the grey scarf, wrapping it around her opponent's wrist. She swings her body and throws her opponent out of the ring.
I raise my left arm and announce Eri's victory.
A couple more groups battle, leading us to the last of the battles.
A girl and a boy.
The boy has pale blue hair and completely white eyes. He has noticeably pointed ears, one of which is pierced with a silver dangling earring.
The girl has very familiar green hair, large eyes, and frog-like features. I'm quick to think that this girl must be related to Tsuyu Asui.
The two take their positions. The frog-like girl squats into a frog-like pose. She sticks her tongue out and eyes her opponent. The boy holds his hands in front of him, palms facing his opponent. His blank stare confuses me for a moment until the realization dawns upon me.
He's blind... interesting.
"Begin!"
The greenette jumps toward the boy, attempting to attack with her tongue. Before the attack hits, however, the space between his hands begins to glow. From the light, a giant white dragon emerges. I'm in awe at the powerful, majestic attack. Back when I made dragons with my flames, I could never come close to creating such a creature.
Such an attack... and the control needed to keep such a thing from going insane... this boy is something else.
I chuckle at my amazement and remind myself that I'm the teacher, not a spectator. I raise my arm and announce the victor.
"Well done, young man. I believe that's everyone. Thank you for those wonderful battles. If you lost, don't be discouraged. You all showed incredible power and skill, and I look forward to watching you grow as heroes. For now, class is over, but we'll have more training tomorrow. Enjoy the rest of your day, future heroes."
