"Ya know, there's no point in cleaning them up if we're just gonna abandon ship when we get back." Ridley stated, leaning against the wall. "This place'll just become more space rubble. And these twerps are gonna be nothing but dried up skeletons soon."
Eve sighed in annoyance, gathering up the corpses. "Well, they should at least be out of our way." She threw them to the side, dusting off her arm cannon against her hand. "If you say so." Ridley muttered, shrugging.
The ship's P.A. system went on, it's speakers crackling.
Now approaching: Z.D.R.
"Finally!" Ridley exclaimed, stretching his arms, "Lemme gather up some supplies and we should be there by the time I'm done." Eve nodded, "Understood, my lord." Ridley was about to turn a corner before he said, "Listen, Eve. When we're... alone, like this, you can just call me Ridley. Okay?" After a moment, Eve nodded, causing a small smile to creep onto his face.
Once he left, she grabbed her helmet in panic. "What do I do what do I do?!" She muttered. She couldn't contact her allies here! They must've tried to get to her for hours now! She began to pace as she tried to remember if she successfully locked down their last conversation.
Eve?
Eeevvveee?
Hey!
She whirled toward the voice, only to see Ridley. "You okay? I've been trying to get your attention for a minute." She looked down sheepishly. "M-my apologies, my lor- I mean uh, Ridley. I was... lost in thought." "Ya don't say?" He chuckled. He went towards the exit as he continued. "We'll anyways, we're here now, so feel free to tag along when your ready." With that, he left the ship, leaving Eve alone with her thoughts.
She began to recall the look he gave her back during the first mission. He seemed to be giving her that same look more often now.
His soft smile.
And warm gaze.
Wait.
No! No, it doesn't mean anything!
Right...?
She sighed as she left the ship, questions still plaguing her mind.
At least she had time to think while on this planet.
