Carrot and I sat across from each other, unsure of what to do next. "why'd ya help me?" Carrot asked. "i'm your enemy." I shook my head. "You're not. Your Nightmare's enemy. Dust's enemy. Killer's enemy. Error's enemy. Horror's enemy. But not mine." It felt weird, calling him Horror after I've been calling him father all this time. "why do you live this life then? you're l.o.v.e suggests that you've been busy." I drew my legs in close. "Because I fear Nightmare, of course. I don't want to die again." My sockets widened as I realized my mistake. No doubt he'd caught it too. "resets?" I nodded quickly. Why am I lying to him? He deserves the truth? "Well, yes Horrortale does have resets, but that isn't what I meant." I looked at the dust of Dusttrust. "I find this place a little, er.. bittersweet." Carrot was a little curious. "what do ya mean? you died before? this place is bittersweet? how?" Tears came to my sockets. "I should have listened. I shouldn't have gone with Ink and Dream.. this life sucks, brother, I hate it."

I looked to Carrot. If a skeleton could be pale, he was. His jaw hung open as he processed all this. Tears gathered in his own sockets. "b-blue..?" I nodded. "I-I don't know where to begin.." I attempted to wipe my tears away, but they wouldn't stop. "Everything was going according to plan. I was to hold back the Murder Time Trio while Error was sealed and Nightmare was purified, but I couldn't handle them.. it was to much." I choked on a sob. "I started running. I was going for backup. But.. they were hunting me.. and I was hurt.. badly hurt.." I gripped my femur. "Then I was stabbed in the back and dragged to where everyone could see.." I curled into myself. "Horror finished me off.. then.. I was reborn as his son.." I looked at my hands. "I couldn't remember anything at first, but now I do and I don't know what to do.. I don't want to kill, but I don't want to die either.." I buried my face in my arms, the thick scent of blood and dust was almost overwhelming on my lilac hoodie. Then I was enveloped in a hug.

Carrot was hugging me tightly. "i was so lost without ya.. all this time, you've been suffering too, blue." His voice was choked with pain. "i-i'm so sorry.." I hugged him back. "It's ok, Papy.. it's ok. I really, really missed you. So much.. it hurt." I felt relieved, so relieved. He believed me! "sh-shit and i attacked ya too.." I looked up and shifted to put my hands on his shoulders. "It's ok Papy! This is going a lot better than I thought it would.. I wasn't sure if you'd believe me." I admitted, shifting away from him and putting my hands in my lap. "you're story lines up with dream and ink's. seeing as you weren't even born at the time, reincarnation is the only explanation. 'sides ya look almost exactly like him."
"I know I do.. that's why Horror named me Bitter. Well.. Bitterberry. I was named because I look so much like my..er.. old self? I guess?" I crossed my legs. "I was expecting some sort of trivia or something.." I chuckled, finally clearing away my tears. Carrot did too. "trivia, eh?"

"what's my birthday?" Carrot asked. "November 23rd." Carrot grinned. "your birthday?" I tilted my head. "Which one? As Blueberry it was June 29th and as Bitterberry it is February 5th." He shrugged. "both works. my favorite color?" I shook my head. "These questions are to easy. Blue."
"your favorite color?" I was grinning now, myself. "Orange."
"my favorite food and/or drink." I deflated. "Honey. Especially from Muffet's even though YOU KNOW IT'S UNHEALTHY!" My voice picked up in volume and I don't think I'd ever seen Carrot so happy about being yelled at. "stars i missed this.." I smiled again. "Me too.." My nose twitched and my head snapped around. "blue?"
"Horror's here." I jumped to my feet grabbing my hatchet. "how do you know?" I was trying to locate his.. well.. location. "I'm his son remember? I have his heightened senses." I readied myself for a fight. It was me fighting my father, to save my brother. The starved skeleton stepped out of the woods. "your job's almost done, bitter. just kill carrot and we can go home." I shook my head. "No." Horror sighed and summoned his ax. "you're going to be stubborn about this, aren't you?"
"Yes." I raised my hatchet to defend myself.
