I summoned a blaster to counter father's while sending a wave of bone attacks. Gaster Blasters hadn't come easily to me like bones and blue magic did when my magic came in. It'd taken me nearly all year to be able to summon them and control them properly. I was six now. My father's protégé. Father dodged the bones and caught me in blue magic. I growled. He lifted me and slammed me into the ceiling. I squeezed my sockets shut in pain. He let go and I summoned another blaster to catch me. I hadn't gotten the hang of 'shortcuts' yet. I fired the blaster as I jumped down, summoning my hatchet from my inventory. I jumped over more bone attacks of his as I managed to get closer. I grabbed his soul this time before he got mine and slammed him into the wall. He shortcutted away before I could 'finish him'. I dropped and swept a leg behind me before he could swing down. I knew his patterns well by now. He'd shortcutted behind me to make a finishing blow. I wasn't going to let that happen. I whipped around and sent out more bones.

Training was done for the day as I went to the bathroom to clean up. I bandaged fresh cuts and scorch marks, wiping sweat away from Training. I glanced at the mirror. Red, Star shaped eyelights stared back. That had started when I turned five. I didn't know why. It was normal now. When the boys first saw them though, they seemed unsettled by them. I shook my skull, putting the kit away. Then I went to father and the rest. They were talking business again. I'd simply stay silent until they were done.

My nose twitched to the scent of dust. It was fresh, maybe a few hours old. Another starved monster died. I'd started to develop quite the sense of smell, something I got from father, and all I could ever get out of it was the scent of death. It made me sad. "you did well today, bitterberry."
"I still don't have shortcuts down." I pointed out. "I beat, you but I still failed." Father sighed. "you'll get it, bitter. it takes time."
"Do I have any time left? Nightmare wants me to join you on your next job." He went silent. "ya heard that huh?"
"I.. don't want to kill, father." I stated. "ya have too or you get killed." I stopped. "Does it have to be this way? Are there no other ways of getting food?" We've had this conversation a million times, but I was sure there had to be another way. He grit his teeth. "there is no other way! drop it!" He snapped, clearly sick of my persistence on the matter. I tensed. He was still scary, just less so now that I could defend myself. "..." I growled and walked past him. "where are you going?"
"Waterfall." I answered shortly.☆☆☆
Waterfall was the one place I felt I could be myself at. I was calm here. Happy. I could spill my soul out to the echo flowers without judgment. Mostly I trained and reflected on my dreams. They've become oddly scent oriented. Those scents came with faces of people I've never met, but was positive I knew. I looked into the blue waters of the river. "My most recent dream was of a Papyrus different from Uncle.." I explained to the echo flowers. "He carries the scent of cigarette smoke with a hint of honey. He really should stop smoking. It's not healthy." I hummed. "I believe he is someone I knew in my last life. I'm glad that my dreams are revealing more then my death. That repetitive nightmare was the worst.." I shivered and smiled. "I wonder what my name was in that life? Who that Papyrus is. If I had friends and what I was like? Did I have to kill there too?" I hoped not.

Time flew by and I returned home in time to make dinner. Uncle was at the castle, father with him so I figured I'd do the cooking for once. And I'd stole enough ingredients too. We always had spaghetti here. I wanted to try something else. (Yall already know what it is.) The front door opened as I fixed the last plate and put it on the table. All and all, they didn't look half bad. "COME AND GET IT!" I called. The brothers poked their heads in. "WHAT IS IT?"
"where'd you get it?"
"TACOS!" I ignored father's question. "bitter. where'd you get it."
"My secret, now come and eat." I took my seat at the table while uncle approached his. "you can't just steal food from them, bitter!" Father hissed, mostly out of fear. "I can handle the consequences, if they find out." I'm not letting my family starve. "promise me you won't do it again." I looked father in the eye. "I'LL DO WHAT I HAVE TO, TO MAKE SURE WE SURVIVE." I stated loudly. There was a lot of times father and I didn't get along, but he was still my father and he was trying to raise me to survive. For that I was grateful. He had to understand, I was going to do things my way though.
