Chapter twenty two

"I want wolves patrolling the borders of our territory at all times, we'll do shifts. Work it out between yourselves," Marcus commanded to a group of young men.

Everyone man above the age of twenty was to be involved in this war and some women were as well.

Marcus was dishing out orders to the pack who had assembled on an open plain in the forest.

"I want everyone to be ready at all times, we don't know when the could attack," he said to everyone, "now let's get a move on people we haven't got time to waste."

Everyone scuttled of in different directions and a group of roughly forty men were left.

Everyone had different jobs to do; some of the younger trained fighters were on patrol, the women participating were learning how to look after wounded wolves and the higher ranking wolves were working with the Alpha on tactics.

Marcus was here teaching the rest of the wolves how to fight.

I listened in admiration as he began to teach the men how to fight. They split off into pairs and he taught them basic rules like expect the unexpected and never turn your back on your opponent.

I know this wasn't the time but I could feel myself falling in love with him all over again.

I was snapped out of my moment when someone called out my name.

I turned around and saw Michael gesturing for me to come over.

I began walking back to the house and just as I was about fifty meters away I saw Marcus' old group sitting down at a bench.

I walked past them warily but to my surprise they smiled nervously up at me.

"Wait Lucy, we have to say something," Sasha called out to me.

I approached their table cautiously not trusting them because of the tough reception they gave me last time.

"We all just wanted to say that we're sorry," Sasha said "Cindy made us act the way we did. She threatened us."

Memories flashed through my brain as I remembered accounts on when they had been particularly horrible to me. Ever since I had got with Marcus they had always picked on me.

But Cindy had threatened them and what else could they have done?

I conjured up a warm smile and cast the bad memories of them away.

"That's okay I understand how 'persuasive' Cindy can be, believe me," I said to them.

They nodded in agreement.

"Maybe we can hang out sometime?" I asked.

Their faces lit up like kids at christmas. Sasha glanced at her friends before answering on behalf of them.

"That would be great," she smiled.

I backed up a couple of steps knowing that the alpha was waiting.

"See you around," I called over my shoulder before I turned back around and ran back towards the house.

"sorry for keeping you waiting Michael," I panted. God I was so unfit!! I need to get back in shape before the battle.

"That's alright Avalon, it's good that you are getting know the people in the pack which you will soon rule over. Lets go," he said before he began walking towards the house.

I gulped and a wave of nervousness washed over my body. Whether I liked it or not, I would have to rule as the pack's Luna one day, but it still made me nervous. I don't know if I'm ready for such a big responsibility yet.

I followed him through the house into his office where Beta simon and Dominique, who is third command, were waiting.

I sat down on a stool next to Simon and turned back to face Michael.

"Avalon, we have brought you here because we need your help," he began.

I nodded my head, urging him on.

"We need you to send your soul to where Hunter is, we have to know more about his plans."

"Yes sir." I replied before I closed my eyes and began to relax.

It can't be much different from reading peoples minds, could it?

The whole room was enveloped by silence, but although no words were said, the tension hung thickly in the air.

I focused on Hunter as hard as I could, until finally I felt my soul lift out of my body.

I flew up into the air and raced off into the distance. Things bellow me passed in a blur until everything started to slow down and I floated down onto a large expanse of grass.

My eyes widened in shock at the sight before me.

Hundreds of men were assembled in front of me all faced towards Hunter and Kyle. I was there next to Kyle but no one knew that of course. What made my blood boil the most was that among the large full grown men there were also some younger boys that were probably from 12-19.

I can't believe they had enlisted young boys in a war!!

"We have been preparing for this day for weeks and now we are finally ready," Hunter shouted out to the men,

"I know all of you weren't necessarily 'agreeable' to this war but we are fighting to take back what was rightfully ours."

"We will be the most powerful pack in the world!!" Kyle exclaimed throwing the whole crowd into uproar.

Men burst their clothes as they shifted into wolves of all different colours and sizes. Kyle and Hunter remained human.

But what shocked me the most was what Kyle said next.

"I know your there Avalon."
