Chapter twenty nine
I woke up to the sound of a machine beeping next to me. My head pounded like I had a hangover but somehow i managed to force open my eyes.
The sun peeked through the blinds and created a few streaks of warm light on the itchy white sheet I was under.
A cord was attached to my arm by a needle, and it made me feel sick just looking at it. I tilted my head a little to see Marcus sitting down on a rather uncomfortable looking stool with his head in his hands. He looked up and his face instantly brightened.
"Avalon, your awake!" He exclaimed.
I smiled at him and sat up in my bed. My head throbbed and a wave of nausea washed over my body.
"You might not want to jump up so fast Avalon. You've been out for a while and were on some pretty strong medication."
I looked smiled at him weakly and began to fall in love with him all over again when he started propping up pillows to make sure i was comfy.
He gave me a lopsided smile when he noticed my looking at him and kissed my temple.
A light knock on the door broke me from my chain of thought and I turned around to see who it was. A doctor strode in and looked at my happily through his thick black framed glasses.
"Ah Avalon," he exclaimed, "It's nice to see that you are finally awake."
I nodded at him as he sat down on an office chair and began scribbling on his clipboard.
"How are you feeling?" He questioned as he looked back up at me
I pulled myself up so I was fully sitting up and turned to face him.
"I'm feeling alright. I've got a bit of a headache and I feel a bit queasy but overall I'm ok," I replied
"Excellent!" He stated before resuming scribbling on a sheet on paper.
"Your probably wondering what was happening to you, am I correct?" He asked
I nodded in response and he continued on.
"This sometimes happens to newly shifted wolves when you go through a traumatic experience. The stress keeps building up inside you until finally you and your wolf can no longer handle it and you pass out. It's nothing too serious, you were only out for a few hours while your wolf recovered."
I exhaled a breath I didn't know I had been holding and grasped Marcus' hand.
"We should have you discharged soon, I'll just go and get a few papers you need to sign" he said warmly as he stood up and walked towards the door.
"Oh and I'll send your mother in too, she's been waiting out here for quite a while now," hee continued before he left the room.
My mum walking in and immediately rushed over to me and wrapped my in her arms. I smiled at her and she looked back at me with tears in her eyes.
"Honey, I'm so glad your alright," she gushed, "I was so worried!"
I took her hands inside mine and stared back into her blue-grey eyes.
"Thanks mum, I'm glad your safe too," I replied
"Oh and there are a few people that you need to meet when you're released" she said as a smile started to form on her face.
I stared at her confused but before I could ask anymore the doctor walked back in.
"Here is the form you need to sign, and as soon as you're done you are free to leave," he said
I signed my name and handed it back to him.
"Righty-o you are ready to leave," the doctor said, " but take it easy today, you're not fully recovered yet."
I nodded and stood up slowly, with the help of Marcus.
As we walked towards the car I couldn't help but notice that mum had a twinkle in her eye. She was hiding something.
"Who am I going to meet?" I asked
"You'll find out when we get back home," she relied coyly before we got into the car and drove away.

I took a deep breathe and gripped Marcus' hand before as mum opened the door.
We walked down the hallway and into the Lounge to reveal two men who I'd never seen, before sitting on the couch. One of them was around mums age with dark brown curly hair, and the other looked to be a few years older with auburn hair that was ruffled up.
I shot a puzzled look at mum but she just smiled back at me and sat next to the older man. She slipped her hand inside his and that's when I started to get really confused.
"Honey," she started, " I'd like you to meet your father and your brother."
