Chapter Three

'Who does she think she is...Put her in her place....You can't hold out for much longer

"Ava.."

"Avalon!!"

My eyes suddenly snapped open to reveal my mum sitting on my bed, a worried expression planted on her face. My body was vigorously convulsing and I was bundled up in my sheets again, covered in sweat. My skin was burning and my throat was tight and closed off.

"Mum... MUM! W-what's happening to me," I shrieked my voice laced with panic. My hazy eyes darted around the room in panic.

"Shh, Avalon everything's going to be okay," She whispered, gently stroking my shoulder.

She turned to a stranger in the corner who nodded at her and walked out of my room, shutting the door behind him.

"Mum!" I cried, feverish and still shaking violently.

"Honey, you need to calm down and listen to me." She said her voice soothing and gentle.

I gulped and nodded slowly.

"I have a few things I have been keeping from you until now, but not because I wanted to, it's because I can only tell you during your first awakening."

"Awakening? Wh- what do you mean awakening?" I stuttered.

"Well its a bit hard to explain," she cautiously began. "There is another spirit, of sorts, inside of your body, and there comes a time when your 16-17 when this spirit awakens. "

I scrambled up and pressed my back against my bed head, suddenly at a loss for words. Amongst the burning flames that seemed to lick at my skin I felt my heart constrict and a feeling of betrayal settle inside me.

"I'm sorry for keeping this from you, I just couldn't tell you until now," she gushed making to grab my hand in a pathetic attempt to comfort me.I snatched my hand away in a brief explosion of raw fear and anger.

"I can't believe you would keep something like this from me. I trusted you!!" I shouted, my voice cracking a little in the process. My body was fuming with enough passion and rage to fuel a fire.

"I couldn't-," Mum started.

"No, I'm not done yet." I demanded, "What about Sam? I suppose her second spirit has awoken as well?!?"

Mum nodded slowly, angst stitched across her brow.

"I can't believe she was hiding this from me," I whispered, defeated.

"And what does this spirit do?" I asked, suppressing my disappointment in what I thought was my trusted mother and best friend. I closed my eyes briefly, my racing pulse had finally slowed to a normal rate.

"There is no other way to put this Avalon, so I'm going to tell it to you straight," She began, wringing her hands nervously and averting her eyes from my steely gaze. "Having this, second spirit, means that you're a...werewolf."
