Chapter twenty five

Avalon's POV

I stared at my self in the washbasin in my cell. My eyes were red and puffy and my cheeks were tear stained. I had been crying for almost an hour now. I looked like an absolute mess but I couldn't care a bit. All I could think about was Marcus.

I stepped away from the mirror and began to pace around the cell fiddling with the hem of my shirt to try and take my mind off things. It had been a while now since I heard the wolf howls that signify the start of the battle and no one has told me what's happening up there yet.

I have heard shouts of pain and death cries and all I can do is pray that it's not Marcus.

Footsteps constantly pounded on the floor above me and nursing wolves were running up and down the steps. The rooms where the injured wolves were being nursed in a room just down the corridor so I saw wolves coming down in every shape and form all howling in pain.

I sat down on the cold ground and drew pictures with my fingers on the floor. A loud shout echoed throughout the corridor from above followed by the sound of frantic feet stumbling down the stairs. I lifted my heavy head and stared in shock as the body of Cindy's dad emerged on a stretcher. His head lolled to one side and he stared at my with glassy eyes before he went inside the nursing room.

I stood up suddenly filled with an overwhelming power. I wasn't just going to sit their while Marcus and the other wolves fought and lost their lives for me. I walked over to the bars and with the help of my wolf, managed to pull two of them apart. I could feel my she wolf inside me itching to take control.

I slipped through the gap and ran up the stairs. Adrenalin was coursing through my veins and I sprinted through the house and out of the back door towards where I knew the battle would be taking place.

The wind tangled itself in my hair and my feet pounded the grass beneath me. My brow knitted into a frown as I neared the battlefront and saw the two sides staring each other.

Naked bodies of deceased men scattered the blood stained grass . Even though it was natural for our kind to be naked after they transformed it still made me sick to see them with their throats and huge pieces of flesh ripped out of them.

I slowed down to a walk as i got closer. My jaw dropped and my heart skipped a beat when I saw exactly what had happened.
