Chapter fourteen

When Marcus dropped me home after our date I couldn't stop smiling. I had just had the best night of my life. The lights were on inside the house so mum must be home. I wonder if night was as good at mine.

Opening the door I saw that mum was sitting on the couch reading a book.

"Hi hon, how was your night?" She said while putting down her book. I walked over to the fridge and pulled out the orange juice.

"It was amazing," I said as I closed the fridge door and poured my drink. "What about you."

"It was nice honey we really got along well," she replied with a smile.

"That's great mum." I said before grabbing my cup and heading towards the stairs.

"I'm going to head off to bed mum, see you in the morning," I said to her while beginning to go up the stairs.

"Actually honey, I have a few things I want to talk to you about," She said turning her body towards me.

"Come and sit down," she said patting the seat next to her on the couch.

My breath hitched in my throat. I don't think I could take another change just when my life seemed to be settling down.

"Okay..." I said as I walked back over her and sitting down.

"Avalon, there's something that I haven't told you yet but I feel as though now your ready." She began while cupping my hands inside hers.

I closed my eyes, took a deep breath and nodded to urge her on.

"The first thing I should admit is that your father didn't go off with another woman, He's been missing all this time." She said while rubbing her brow line. My eyes flew open and I felt my anger levels rising. I guess this puts my dad in a better light but puts mum in a very bad place.

"I suppose I should start at the beginning. You once had a brother who you did everything with. He was two years older than you and you were inseparable. One day when your brother and your father were walking in the forest and they didn't come back.."

"I didn't think you were ready to know until now," she sighed.

I took in a sharp breath and snatched my hands back.

"I wasn't ready to know until now. I WASN'T READY TO KNOW UNTIL NOW!!!!," I screamed at her standing up.

"I thought we established that we weren't going to keep secrets anymore." I shouted at her. She stood up and tried to calm me down, but it wasn't going to work, my wolf and I were angry now.

"Honey I did it for the best," She pleaded, but I wasn't going to back down.

"No mum, I gave you my trust and you broke it. Again!" I seethed as I walked towards the front door.

"I hate you!!" I spat as I slammed the front door behind me leaving my mum standing inside alone.
