13 - a sad past

hello ! today's one shot is based on the idea of ming9yu so thank you for that and I hope that you will like it :)
I'm no longer taking ideas for a while because I have a lot of ideas of my own that I want to explore.

It was a regular thing for the students to see Joshua Hong staring at Lee Seokmin in the hallways. They all thought the pining was cute and hoped that the two would actually talk to each other. Because you can't call red cheeks and polite smiles a conversation.

Joshua Hong knew he liked Lee Seokmin but he was too shy to even talk to him. Again. So watching him and blushing every time the other looked in his direction was all he felt like doing. He fell for the younger on his first day in this new school. Seokmin was the one who helped him on his first day, the one that walked him to class on the first week and the one that helped him in the new buildings when he needed. The two were friends. But recently, no one saw them together.

Lee Seokmin liked Joshua Hong back. The whole school could see it. Only one person didn't know. Seokmin liked how kind and adorable the elder was. The way he was able to help him deal with stress and the pressure of school. The way he memorized how Seokmin liked his coffee and what he prefered eating for lunch. They were friends.

They were friends who haven't talked in days after a certain talk. Joshua took his distance after Seokmin told him he didn't want any relationship. He knew what he was doing was wrong and selfish. But he could not help it. His heart broke after Seokmin pronounced that sentence and he needed time for himself.

He was really surprised to find Seungcheol waiting for him after his last morning class.

"We need to talk."

Joshua just nodded, a weak smile on his face. He followed Seungcheol to the cafeteria where they sat.

"I think you know why I'm here."

"It's because of Seokmin isn't it ?"

"You know it is."

"I'm sorry. I just need time for myself."

"He likes you back."

Joshua, who was playing with his water bottle, suddenly dropped it loudly on the table.

"Don't look at me like that. The whole school knows you two like each other."

"He doesn't like me. He said he didn't want a relationship."

"I see we have a lot to tell you."

"We ?"

"Yes. We."

Jisoo looked up from the table to see Jeonghan standing behind Seungcheol.

"You have a lot to learn so sit here and let me talk."

Jisoo just nodded and watched as Jeonghan sit beside Seungcheol.

"You two are close so I guess he already told you what happened with his parents."

Another nod by Jisoo. He remembered clearly the day Seokmin told him what happened to his parents. It was a sunny day and they were taking a walk in the park when the younger one told him. His parents died when he was ten in a car accident. He had nobody but his parents so he was put out for adoption and was welcomed in Jeonghan's family. The two now consider themselves as brothers. He remembered the tears that filled up Seokmin's eyes at the mention of his parents and the way he held him after that.

"You now need to understand that if Seokmin doesn't want any relationship at the moment it's because he got cheated on multiple times. It broke him and he's slowly putting himself back together. You had your part to play in his recovery I must say."

"So you think I need to give him some space ?"

"You need to tell him the truth. He is not going to run away."

"And if I need time ?"

"You need it, take it. But don't wait too long."

"Yeah, Seungcheol is right. But please not too long. My brother is so sad these days. He miss you."

The two left him with his thoughts.

Joshua spends the rest of his day thinking about what he has been told. Should he actually do the first move ? He missed the younger so much and just wanted to hug him again. At the end of the day, he had made his decision.

He walked to Seokmin's classroom and waited for him there. And when his crush came out of the room, he was there waiting. He smiled nervously when Seokmin walked toward him.

"Hey."

"Hey."

"What are you doing here ?"

"I need to talk to you. Can we go somewhere else ?"

"Yes. Of course. Is the park okay ?"

"Yeah, it's perfect. Let's go."

The walk to the park was silent until Joshua decided to start talking.

"I'm so sorry Minnie. I don't know why I stopped talking to you. Wait no. That's not true. I know why I stopped talking to you. And it's so selfish. I'm so ashamed. I should not have reacted that way. I'm sorry. I just didn't know how to react after you told me you didn't want any relationship. But I talked to Jeonghan and Seungcheol and it just explain so much. I'm so stupid. I'm so sorry..."

"Hyung stop. You're rambling. You know you can tell me everything."

"I like you Lee Seokmin."

The shocked look on Seokmin's face was priceless. Jisoo could not help but smile at it.

"I know what happened with your exes. Jeonghan told me. I don't want to force you into anything but I really like you and I just wanted you to know it. And if one day you like me back, I would love to have you have my boyfriend if you'll have me."

"Wow."

"You don't have to tell me anything. I understand. I'll leave now."

As Jisoo started to walk away, Seokmin spoke up.

"So you leave without letting me talk."

Joshua turned around confused to see Seokmin standing right behind him.

"I like you too, Hong Jisoo. And before you start whining about how you prefer to be called by your English name, just know that for me you'll always be Jisoo. It was the name the principal used to introduce you to me on your first day here. I have liked you since that day. And it will be my pleasure to have you as my boyfriend.I didn't want any relationship until I met you."

"Really ?"

"Yes, really. And what happened with my exes is a difficult part of my past but I'm ready to move forward. With you. I trust you and I like you so much. I missed you so much these past few days. But I wanted to give you space."

Joshua moved forward to hug his new boyfriend.

"I don't want space."

Seokmin smiled, hugged him back and softly kissed the top of his boyfriend's head.

"You are the only one that I allow to call me Jisoo. You are so lucky."

Seokmin just laughed happily. He was more than ready to leave his sad past where it should be and to begin thinking about the future with the man in his arms.
