Rumlow fastened these large metal cuffs that engulfed my entire hands and sat me in the back of one of the trucks.
"There we go," he patted me on the shoulder, "nice and snug."
I glared up at him, no doubt looking quite gnarly with all the blood on my face.
"Now, don't even think about using your little zapping powers. That's reinforced steel right there. You use your powers, it'll just shoot it right back at ya."
Well, there goes my plan A.
Rumlow exited, and I was left in the back with two S.T.R.I.K.E members to watch me. I had no idea where the soldier went, though I'm sure I haven't seen the last of him.
I didn't know where they were taking me. All I knew was it was pretty far away. I could tell it was dark after we'd been driving for several hours. I could barely stop my head from nodding and my eyelids becoming heavy.
Despite the ultimately uncomfortable situation and position I was in, I ended up falling asleep, my head lulling to the side.
It wasn't a deep sleep. Whenever the van would rock, my eyes would open and I'd just shut them again.
It's been hours.
The nagging and dreading feeling of where they might be taking me pulled at the back of my mind. It wasn't strong enough, however, to stop me from falling in and out of sleep.
I didn't know how long it'd been, but it felt like five hours once the back of the van was opened. It was the dead of night, just as I thought.
I squinted my eyes, seeing a very bright streetlight outside. Rumlow sauntered in and grabbed my forearm, dragging me up. I did my best to shake the sleep from my eyes.
Several of the tac team members surrounded me as I was pulled towards a building. It reminded me of the building we had gone to only a day before, where we found Zola. It was concrete and looked to be leading to some sort of underground base.
Very tall lights shown down on the ground around us. I could see barbed wire fences and several watchtowers surrounding the area. I had no idea where we were.
Rumlow input some sort of code once we got to the door, and it opened, revealing an elevator.
Elevators. Always fucking elevators.
I was forced in with the rest of the men, one of them imputing another code that took us down. My hands started to shake with the amount of fear coursing through me.
I didn't even want to know what my heart rate could possibly be at this point.
When the large steel doors opened, I was met with what looked like a lab mixed with a prison. The walls were concrete and grimy, water leaks causing stains on their surfaces. There was technology littered all around. Bars and security doors accessed by passwords were also within view. I saw several people in lab coats and they all wore masks, obscuring their faces.
