My eyes shot open. I could feel beads of sweat begin to trickle from my forehead and down my nose.

I recognized the blue light lighting up the dark, dank room I found myself.

My back was cold. It was always cold when I was strapped onto the metal slab. The room seemed empty. I could only hear the faint hum of machinery.

They left me here again.

Great.

I pulled at my restraints, trying to loosen them in vain.

This would sometimes happen. They would put me to sleep, inject me with whatever chemicals they could along with the routine experiments before leaving me here in the dark.

Sometimes I wouldn't wake up for hours. After a while, I guess they just decided to leave me here once it got really late.

The first night they did this, I screamed and screamed until my throat was raw. It was only when the guards got tired of my shrieks did they finally come in and drag me back to my cell.

Now, I had gotten used to the maltreatment and potential indifference. However, it didn't make me feel any better. At least I wasn't screaming anymore.

To my surprise, the metal door that led to the room I was in opened, revealing two soldiers carrying heavy guns as usual.

They came over to me and undid my restraints, grabbing me by my arms and dragging me along.

I had no idea what they had done to me while I was asleep, but something felt off. I was hurting. There was a sharp pain in my gut that got worse every step we took.
