It'd been a few weeks since the destruction of the Triskelion. All of our belongings were destroyed, and we no longer had a place to call home.
Thanks to none other than Nick Fury, he managed to strike up a little deal with Tony Stark (with the help of Michael, of course) that would allow us to stay in the Avenger's tower as long as we promised to help out with any sort of missions or things along those lines.
We had no problem doing so. If there's one thing I never pictured myself doing, it'd be living in the same place as the esteemed Avengers.
Michael was really in his element. He was very fond of his uncle and all the work he did. Alex and Eric took a while to adjust but managed to get acquainted with everyone and everything.
Hawkeye, also known as Clint, found Alex to be almost as insufferable as Eric had. It was funny to watch Alex pull some sort of stupid shit, and Clint would get absolutely furious and yell at him like a dad. Something Alex found equally as amusing.
Dr. Banner found Eric quite interesting. His mutation was something the scientist had never seen before and was quite intrigued by. Banner would drag Eric to his lab to ask him questions and run tests which freaked the blonde out a bit for a while but eventually got used to it, liking the attention.
Our little team wasn't so little anymore now that we shared a living space with earth's mightiest heroes.
As for me, I found out I had quite the talent for digging up ghost stories. Tony would give me some sort of person or event that was said to have been lost in the past and I'd be able to dig up a plethora of information on it.
I was rather good at the technical stuff. Hacking into computers and accessing encrypted data files became as easy as breathing to me after a while.
I started out by digging up long-lost information on Hydra that was said to have been destroyed ages ago. Tony then put me to work in hunting down old enemies that had disappeared off the grid years ago.
And I did.
So many ghosts, so many skeletons. I found them all.
I told myself repeatedly that I was doing this for the good of the team, but I knew the real reason I was doing it.
There was one ghost whom I had danced around locating for quite a while. I knew I could do it, but I just couldn't bring myself to. Not yet.
Every so often, Steve would come and see me. He would ask how I was adjusting to living with a bunch of enhanced weirdos, and I said it wasn't much different than my time spent in a mental hospital with all the chaos. Steve really got a kick out of that one.
