"Thank you for driving me to school," Taehyun said, looking over at his dad.
After the first decent weekend he's had with the man, he actually smiled at him. He smiled at the man who gave him bruises and scars. The man who turned him into a violent person. The man who made him need to explain why he always got into fights on his college application.
It seemed like he could barely remember any of that now. There was something tugging at his mouth though as he walked up to the school. He doesn't know the full story of what happened to his mom, no matter how many times he's asked and gotten beaten for it. That was his only worry right now.
Maybe making up with his dad would lead to him finding out what happened to her.
There was one part of his mind that told him it was a bad idea, but he couldn't think of that at the moment. There were too many thoughts going on in the poor boy's head and he just wanted to calm down for a little bit.
When he got to homeroom, he finished the little bit of homework he had and pulled out his phone.
Taehyun: You were right.
Beomgyu: Huh?
Beomgyu: We haven't talked in like four days.
Taehyun: I know, but you were right about the drug thing. It's the only explanation as to how he has money right now.
Taehyun: Also.
Taehyun: I'm being friendly with him so he'll hopefully open the safe or something.
Beomgyu: Taehyun this is not a good idea.
Taehyun: It's fine.
Beomgyu: Are you sure?
Taehyun: What, you don't trust me?
Beomgyu: I don't trust him.
Beomgyu: I swear to God.
Beomgyu: Don't get hurt Taehyun. I swear to God, if you get hurt...
Taehyun: I can handle myself. It'll be fine.
Taehyun: And I'm not gonna get hurt. He's being nice to me. Like an actual dad for once.
Beomgyu: And if it is the drugs causing it, then what happens when he runs out, huh?
Taehyun: You are being undelightful.
Beomgyu: And you're being stupid.
Taehyun stared at his phone for a moment and then put it face first on the desk. He didn't realize how much this long distance thing was gonna fuck everything up. He didn't realize how much Beomgyu was gonna fuck everything up.
After a few minutes, he picked up his phone again.
Taehyun: Wow. You are such a great boyfriend.
Taehyun: I've been degraded and called stupid by different people my entire life. Now that my dad stopped, you're gonna start doing it? Seriously?
Beomgyu: You know I didn't mean it like that.
Taehyun: Then how the fuck did you mean it?
Taehyun: You called me stupid when I'm doing this to find out what happened to my mom. The woman who created me. You have both your parents and they're amazing. Why can't you understand that I want to have at least one good parent?
Taehyun: I won't forgive my dad. He's a bad person. But I want to find out what my mom was like. I need to find out if I did have a good parent.
Taehyun: Please don't fight with me. I love you too much for that. But you can't tell me what's best for me. You can't determine whether or not I'm doing the right thing.
Taehyun: I know it's dangerous. Obviously. My father owns multiple weapons for crying out loud. But if I get on his good side then it will work in my favor in the long run.
Beomgyu: I can't type out everything I want to respond to that. But I read it, and even though I don't agree with it, I'll leave you to it so you can do it on your own.
Beomgyu: And I'm sorry for saying that. You can never be stupid. You're the smartest person I know.
"Jeez, what did you do?" A girl asked, sitting next to Beomgyu.
"Corie, what did I say about looking at my phone?"
"I didn't read anything. I just saw that someone texted you a bunch of paragraphs."
When they came to New York, Beomgyu quickly realized it was because his dad had work stuff here. But Beomgyu was vacationing so he didn't really care that it was about work. Sometimes he came to the company to hang out when he was bored and he became friends with the young secretary.
"What did you do?" She asked while pulling out her lunch.
"I accidentally called my boyfriend stupid."
"Yikes."
"There's... a lot more to it."
She smiled at how adorable his English was and he playfully rolled his eyes. Everyone thought him and his broken English were adorable and he hated being called adorable now.
"I'm gonna go get something to drink. I'll be back."
He left with his phone on the table and when he was out of sight, she grabbed it to look at their messages.
